China's New "Carrier-Killing" Missile Is Overrated

They may be overrated but concept is sound. It may take time to perfect the technology but Aircraft Carrier busting missiles are cost effective deterrent for Pakistan. The range, accuracy and numbers of these missile might keep Indian ACs at bay.

How can you claim "accuracy" for a system that hasn't been tested yet?

. . .
every one know is carrier killer is overrated.our navy chief already declared that it impossible to target any ship in sea. however we can't overestimate it. so no need to discussion on it any more.

China is not intrested in attacking USA or vice versa. it is rather heating up the econmic resistance to US and its already working.

.
Oh, your navy chief, so you believe everything he said? or only the part regarding carrier killer missile being overated?
India can't match China's military force: Navy Chief - India News - IBNLive :partay:

yes i believe that we never denies that china is better than india. most of chines think that india hate china but it's not true. china development is ideal for india and the developing country. as i know Chinese development plan is following in present india govt....but no doubt carrier killer is over rated however it happens every where. every country overrate it's technology...so no need to discussion on it any more.

There are anti-satellite weapons (ASAT) designed to incapacitate or destroy satellites which are traveling at an extremely high velocity in earth's orbit. Compared to these missiles anti-Ship missiles are piece of cake.

Yes but its orbit is known or can be calculated plus a satellite has no mechanism to defend itself – piece of cake? I think so.

How many spare aircraft carriers do you have, to test it on?

Want to contribute one?

Gee Mister, we don't have any to spare. Why don't you put yourself to good use and help your Chinese friends by volunteering?

If this is an 'anti aircraft carrier' missile, then we can seduce it with an oil tanker escorted by fishing boats. If this is an 'anti ship ballistic missile', which make a lot more sense, then China can test it on any ship, regardless of size. Surely the PLAN can spare some? So unless there are evidences of successful tests against ships of varying sizes up to an oil tanker, any talk of 'accuracy' is wishful thinking.

China's New "Carrier-Killing" Missile Is Overrated

Of course, losing even one aircraft carrier would be a huge blow to the American psyche. But the American response would be so devastating that Beijing would soon regret its boldness. The value of a trillion dollars in Chinese currency reserves would evaporate overnight. China's access to the world's richest export market would end. Its information networks would largely cease functioning. Its sea-based supply lines to Persian Gulf oil and Australian minerals would be severed. And all that could happen even before U.S. bombs began falling on Chinese territory. So while we can't be absolutely certain that China's leaders won't someday be foolish enough to attack a U.S. aircraft carrier, we can be pretty damned sure that they would soon realize they had made a big mistake.

my point exactly that ive been making, its not very easy to get pinpoint targeting data, especially with something so small moving in a huge ocean, even if you do get targeting data the path of the carrier is unpredictable, it can go left, right, foreward, etc... and i assume the bm has only has so much fuel/energy/time to make up for this so if the carrier went in a zig zag random pattern it would be difficult to target.

if the carrier is somehow targeted, and lost then all of the above would happen, 1st off china's entire internet would be shut down (remember most of their comps run on windows which is easy to target especially since microsoft is based here) and the fact that the best hackers still live here(they just dont work for the govt...yet), 2nd their oil would be blockaded instantly by the CBG in the gulf or the IN, 3rd their major surface ships/subs would be tracked and taken out by US/allied forces, 4th stealth fighters/bombers would wreck the air defense network and punch a hole for conventional strikes.

essentially you're speaking of most strategic targets (bases, weapons factories, power stations, bridges, railways, etc...) taken out in days eventually china would surrender after taking so much economic damage in such a short time

So I guess you haven`t read James Kraska`s doomsday articleÉ :pop:

Pretty entertaining even though its full of ****. I love how he assumes the thousands of US sailors would be rescued by the Chinese and not the carrier escorts. But anyway, the most important thing is his claim that the USN could not position enough assets to strike China in under a month. He makes some extraordinary claims like the closing of the Panama Canal and Suez Canal but the possibility of war is extraordinary to start with and it is worth considering. :pop:
