THE best, no "one of"!

Depend on how you see it. It uses LH/LOX which is cheaper to made and safer since its is not as toxic others. American Delta IV uses LH2/LOX which is very expensive to made which is one of the reason why the launch is so little of only 12 despite debut for 12 years.

CZ-5 GTO payload is only rival by Delta IV for extra 220kg while Russian Angara-5 GTO is no where closer to CZ-5 GTO 14 tons payload.

I meant to say the photo was the best I have seen.

I think you mean RP-1/LOX.

SJ-17, the satellite that carried by CZ-5, is now moving on the GEO orbit!

A quick comparison against Japan's Himawari 9, which was launched 30 hours earlier than SJ-17. But Himawari 9 is currently still struggling on GTO (Geostationary Transfer Orbit), far from GEO. I guess it needs another one week at least to reach the GEO.

In addition, Himawari 9 is burning its own fuel for the move from from GTO to GEO. Guess how costly it is? Himawari 9's launch mass is about 3.5ton; but dry mass (mass without fuel) is only 1.3ton!

The comparison clearly shows the advanced performances of the YZ-2 upper stage and the electric propulsion system of SJ-17 satellite.

I watched the whole recording of CCTV live broadcast, two hours worth of video clips. It strikes me that how young those Chinese space engineers are, those boys and girls worked "7/11" and "5+2" ! That is where Chinese strength really is, and will not be matched for long time to come! The guy who was calling the whole show, No 001, is barely into his 30's. Just imagine what they can do in the next 20-30 years, provided China is not in the deep shtt of "democracy" abyss.

Nice Information, bro :-)

This is other Evidence, the Power of China's Space Technology :china::smitten:

Let's wait, 2000s born Chinese will soon get enrolled in university.
The 1980s generation will be soon replaced by new blood. :D

SJ-17 had Direct Insertion to GEO which only the China and the USA (ULA) are currently capable of to all orbits

Proton-M/Briz-M and Proton-M/Blok-DM have been doing direct GEO insertion for a long time. In fact, no Russian satellite has an apogee kick engine.
Zenith/Block-DM and Zenit/Fregat can do it. Even Angara-5/Briz-M can do it with low performance.

China's next generation Hall-effect thruster is started on the SJ-17 satellite! The new Hall thruster is designed to improve the mobility and lifespan of China’s space assets.

It seems like a significant progress:

"It is the first time a Magnetic Focus Hall Effect Thruster being used on a spacecraft! " :china::china:
