"As per generally accepted international industry practices, vendors can open their source code with authorities under mutually accepted arrangement and the company had told the Indian government it was open to this option," the newspaper quoted an unnamed Huawei representative as saying.

On Thursday, India's home secretary asked China's ZTE Corp for more information on security, giving the telecoms gear firm an opportunity to make its case for why it should be able to provide equipment in India.

Does, "blackmailing foreign companies into employing local workers and revealing source codes" sound familiar?

Oh, Indians... -_-

^^^well this is just a case of genuine concern on the behalf of indian government...national security must be given preference .
If some company does not want to comply they are free to pack their bags..

What's the blackmail. It is a simple policy. If the chinese companies want to do the business then follow it otherwise take a hike.

It is finally the decision of Huawei and ZTE to whether operate in the Indian market or no. Simple.

You are needlessly feeling bad about it.

As if we are short of options. If Huawei wants to go away they can we dont have problem. If they want Biz here then they have to go by our rules else good bye tata namaste

hmmm.... India never blackmailed foreign companies, particulary Huawei or ZTE... it never asked them for their source code... you know what the telecom protocol stack is too huge for Indian government to sit and verify whether there are any security loop holes are not...

It is being voluntarily offered by Huawei, just to make sure their biggest market outside China is not missed for them.

India never asked Huawei to open a manufacturing plan in India also... It is them who are voluntarily offering...

Please paste a source where Indian government is proven to be "blackmailing" Huawei to give its source code... :bounce: :bounce:

or if this "blackmailing" stuff is only your "rant" then there is no need to... :taz:

Indian telecom ban violates WTO rules, say experts

"Indian telecom ban violates WTO rules, say experts

BEIJING - India's move to prevent or make it more difficult for telecommunication companies to buy equipment from Chinese companies is a violation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) norms and clearly smacks of trade protectionism, experts said on Wednesday.

Indian telecom ban violates WTO rules, say experts

Though the Indian government has not made any official announcement in this regard, sources said the nation has stopped approvals of Chinese telecom gear imports, citing security concerns.

"The move is discriminatory and the explanation does not make any sense," said He Weiwen, an executive council member of the China Society for WTO Studies.

"India cannot reject Chinese imports citing security reasons. An import ban is warranted only if the Chinese imports are hurting Indian companies," he said.

"It is pure trade protectionism and the Chinese side must seek consultations and a proper way out," said Fu Donghui, managing director of Allbright Law Firm Beijing, a law firm that specializes in trade remedy cases.

According to reports, the Chinese government has already sent a delegation to India for discussions in this regard. The Ministry of Commerce, however, did not reply to questions from China Daily on the issue.

Foreign media said last week that India had blocked local phone carriers from buying equipment from China, citing a letter written by the Indian Department of Telecommunications to the Prime Minister's office. Later Indian officials clarified that the government did not carry out such a ban, but all equipment providers need to pass through security checks.

"The Indian government has not banned Chinese equipment yet, specifically, but has stopped approving imports. This is not a formal policy yet, but is being carried out through this mechanism," said Kunal Bajaj, a partner at Analysys Mason (India), a strategic consultancy firm.

"The suspension of imports applies to all Chinese equipment in the telecom sector and also to some Israeli-origin equipment. This is not a blanket import exclusion for all foreign equipment," he said.

Spokespersons from Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corp told China Daily that they have not got any notices.

"None of our purchase orders have been cleared since March. We have taken a hit of around $150 million in sales since the circular was issued," said a Wall Street Journal report, citing a spokesperson for Huawei India."

India should be removed form WTO for banning a honest chinese company kinda discriminatory , the equipment is for civilian usage

Ohh really?
Lets roll back to the past when Google went through the same in China.
At that time Chinese words: If google wanna do biz in china, then it has to abide chinese rules.

Now same thing happened to chinese cos in India. Afterall rule is rule for all eh .......

Sad thing is,reality bites when its your turn.:rofl:

dont u see the reason through your peanut brain that Indian servers have been consistently hacked by chinese hackers? but not by western hackers.
And now lets talk about the founders or Huwaei? A CCP lickers?

Lets get over with it.Allowing chinese communication equipment manufacturers is like submitting yourself to china with no war.

:). First, you should get some educations about what is server security and what parts of network equipment should responds to server security, and then get some basis learn about L2/L4/L7 FW. I cant believe you, are you saying if an american hacked a windows machine, then MS should open their windows kernel src to the open?

Yawn.......
Never wonder why only the networks or servers that used chinese equipment were compromised?
so far the culprits in GOI supported the chinese manufacturers. And some ministries were already frisked.Soon your commie brains in the whole GOI will be slaughtered.Get ready to pack your stuff

whatsoever, this is a lose-lose situation.
for india and indian consumers have to pay more for its telcom infra. this may slow its telcom infra development progress and hurts india as whole in long run.
for Huawei or ZTE lose indian market.
personally i dont feel much abt it. to me huawei is just another telcom company like cisco,at&t etc. they sometime win sometime lose. it has not much effect on china.

It's not blackmail when you have choice ,

no one is making Huawei come to India,

Simply put they can either do the dance or take a hike.

You are seriously overvaluing , Huawei or ZTE to the Indian market

lose or gain of one company wont even make a dent.

Telecommunication is one of India's most competitive fields , with an ongoing price war where everyone is trying to undercut the other.
That wont change any time soon , with already as many as 500 million sim's in service

If you were talking fixed landlines then i might have agreed with you.
