Simply it is due to no enough seats for so many travelers during the 40 days Spring Festival travel rush.
In 2017, there were 357 million people/time traveled by trains, in which 180 million (50.4%)
were high-speed. Will be more for this year 2018.

Here are more pictures, they were taken from one of central china cities - Wuhan.
The trains were being conducted R&M and heat preservation procedures.

Stop it, WuHan is nobody, WuHan's GDP (nominal) in 2017 = 1.34Trillion RMB, WuHan's GDP/capital (nominal) in 2017= 21300 USD, We have a lot of cities in SP2012 that could beat WuHan so easily, according to PPP vedic GDP ranking!

I'm bullish on Wuhan's future economic prospects. Eastern Hubei has vast plains for future industrial expansion and urban growth. It is geographically situated at the heart of China and by the Yangtze, that's prime real estate. When the high speed maglev gets implemented, Wuhan will form a <2h economic circle with most of China. Less than 2 hours to Beijing and Chengdu, 1.5 hours to Shanghai and Guanzhou. Wuhan is destined to be a great hub for China, especially after the interior gets developed.

Some do, simply a trick. But most give real discount.
Wait for any festivals for discounting is not a bad idea, but shipments may be affected, slower than usual.

So if only you are going buy a big mount, otherwise, no bother to wait.
