China's GDP tops 100 trillion yuan for the first time, economic strength embarks on a huge new step

Well done to China.

It has done in the last 40 years what was thought impossible and that is to grow from 3rd world status to almost first world status for such a large country.

I am sure that China will grow quite well this decade and end up as a lower income developed country by 2030.

I think China is a South country in terms of politics. In economics, it has a long way to reach per capita of advanced economies.

. .
We are still a 3rd-world country, GDP per capita is just USD 10k, far far away from the first-world status.

Yes, it means that China will still grow for a long time to come.

This is just the beginning of the march. When the journey's done and China reaches 1st world status (per capita GDP $40K -- Japan) then China's GDP will be 3 to 4 times that of the US.

Shenzhen is already at $31K. They will need to bring the rest of the country to the same standard.

(Yicai Global) Jan. 19 -- China's cargo train route linking the Asian country within European nations boosted its traffic by half last year, rising above 10,000 trips for the first time amid the Covid-19-driven market demand.

The China-Europe Railway Express's number of trips climbed to more than 12,400 from 2019, Zhao Chenxin, secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission, said at a press conference today.

The demand for supply chain intermediates, as well as goods in the sectors of electronic products, food, wood, and chemicals, was rising rapidly, Zhao explained. As much as USD50 billion worth of products were transported by the trains last year, a more than sixfold jump from 2016. The volume was 1.1 million twenty-foot units.

The China-Europe Railway Express transported large quantities of personal protective equipment amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Some 76,000 tons of PPE was sent to Europe in 2020, including countries such as Italy, Germany, Spain, and Poland.

In the second half of 2020, about 1,200 trains carried cargo to Europe every month, said Zhao. The monthly figure reached double-digit growth for 10 straight months, he added.

Meanwhile, the route was expanding its reach as the number of foreign cities where the trains stop along the way rose to 92 in 21 countries from 2019's 37 cities. The Chinese cities of Xi'an, Chongqing and Chengdu were particularly popular as more than half of the trains began their journeys from these places.

GDP per capita doesn't tell everything. Countries with very high percentage of fiance GDP have higher GDP but don't turn into actual income for average people. Germany, Japan have lower GDP per capita than USA but they are much better in terms of life quality. American people may have bigger houses but they don't have better quality life.

GDP per capita may also be inflated thanks to ridiculously expensive healthcare or law business.

High GDP per capita may also not mean that all citizens have access to those expensive services.

I would consider china as politically mature when it gets the confidence to hold a referendum in xinjiang or tibet.

I would consider you as mentally mature when you get the confidence to stab yourself in your stomach.

Such extreme reaction to a reasonable supposition is what makes people make second guesses at china. what is wrong in proposal for a referendum - canada offered to Quebec. UK offered to scotland. You guys say in many threads how much benefit china is bringing to xinjiang and tibet Then you should be able to win a referendum right ? this will put to rest whatever discomforts are there against china and prepare it even better.

Under ROC Constitution we have Outer Mongolia and South Tibet to recover.

If India gets what it deserves, divided into particular historical nations, the transition would be painless.

China never takes what is not its own.

Land always belongs to people. And a nation exists to serve people. Not the other way around. INdia is immaterial. The way you are behaving its like china is an empire. Every empire will collapse. Often humiliatingly.
THe simple thing is there is enough about xinjiang and tibet that makes them not so much an intrisinic part of china. THey have very different languages, religions etc. It does not mean they cannot be part of china. But just that china needs to show their will is being accomodated.

Can spain hold a referendum in Catalonia? can US hold a referendum in Hawaii, puerto rico, guam, hell even California? can India hold a referendum in tamilnadu,Hyderabad, nagaland, manipur, mizoram ,kashmir etc?
If I had to bet my money ,tibet & xinjiang would be the only ones where I would put my stake for the status quo to remain as pre-defined .

India is a rubbish country that can be ignored. But in any decent country with a significantly different minority taking a large area - referendums have been held like UK in scotland, canada with quebec etc. And i wasnt even saying china needs to hold one right now. But i said that's gold standard of chinese political maturity and confidence of its identity.

Hows california diffferent from any part of america ? recent immigrants come explicitly taking an oath to america and they cannot demand referendums. However xinjiang, tibet are ancient lands of ancient people. China or CCP came to them they did not come to china.
