Sri Lanka Guardian: China's first aircraft -carrier

.
So they finally caught up with the news, eh?

. . . . . .
It is still a long way from getting operational clearance. No major system including radars, has been installed yet. Carrier operation is a very complicated process and needs years of training and experience. PLAN is expected to get hands-on experience with the Varyag over the next decade, its good that they spent good time in refurbishing/building this Ukrainian flat-top.

According to Xinhua news, the phased array radar and anti-aircraft weapons have been installed. Xinhua posted several photos showing that the aircraft carrier is near completion and ready to go at sea this year. It could serve as a command ship, helipcopter carrier given that aircrafts are still not ready.

. .
Will you guys win the Asian carrier construction race against India?

PS: Hull materials for Indian carriers are imported from Russia. So it's essentially Varag.

India already operates a Carrier. Has had two - one recently decommissioned. And ~50 years of experience.

All ship building materials including the steel, are made in India. You should read about that, before commenting.

So will you guys beat China in manufacturing the first AC in post-WWII Asia?

Ah I see. So will you guys beat China in manufacturing the first AC in post-WWII Asia?

We are already manufacturing an aircraft carrier from the keel up! Not 'refurbishing' an unfinished project.

they don't need to have the first of everything in Asia. To keep that, the Chinese have spent a lot more than their Indian counterparts.
It is not at all ignorant to believe that China will make the first aircraft carrier in Asia. Problem is, at what expense?
The Varyag it self will not be the most potent carrier just like the Indian-Russian carrier that will be delievered.
Rather it will probably be the Indian carrier under construction right now in their docks.

It's my firm belief that India will beat China in manufacturing the first BC ( very popular domestically in India) , and most of those in the world B market, in basically any era. :smokin:
