China's First $100M Film Pulled From Cinemas After Disastrous Opening Weekend

Well we have a reasonable explanation why a horrible and bland movie rehashing old formula flops.
We are still to figure out why people rush and watch all these horrible and bland movies rehashing old formula that didn't flop.

I hope for an alternative solution that brings me back to the cinema.

China's First $100M Film Pulled From Cinemas After Disastrous Opening Weekend
...
as China's most expensive film ever made, with a production budget of over $110 million

Monster Hunt 2's budget was higher.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_Hunt_2
Budget RMB 900 million (US$143 million)

Chinese movie-goers doesn't go watch a movie because of its high budge. There are many good chinese movies that earned tons with much lower budge.

There is no compatibility between eastern and western fantasy, we don't think the same, we don't behave the same. When I saw the Asura trailer, I said to myself I pass no thank, I rather see the authentic Eastern fantasy or western fantasy such as Lord of the rings.
There's something to that. I saw Once Upon a Time last month and enjoyed being immersed in a totally different fantasy experience than what I'd experienced before. Why would I bother to see a Chinese version of Lord of the Rings?

Neither I bother to watch western version of "the last emperor" or "the last of airbender"

Here's a rule: if there is a big budget the film probably won't go down well with audiences.

a common money laundering/tax evading practice the old timer Hongkongers are too familiar with...

the fact that the producer of the film doesn't want much publicity or box office returns is pretty much telling

. . . . . .
Yeah, stay away from Hollywood movies with east Asian theme. It's absurd and to the point of racism.

When westerner make movie about east Asian, they had always add insult to our culture, it's like adding insult to injury by watching how westerners humiliate us which we have to pay to watch it.

No worries. It was filmed on-site in the Forbidden City. The Chinese Communist Party approved the script: link

CCP approved it doesn't mean we Chinese will buy it, it up to billion Chinese to decide if they want to watch it or not.

Oh, you watched it. You thought it was a Chinese film, after all.

Fun fact: according to Wikipedia over 10,000 soldiers of the People's Liberation Army were drafted as extras!

Avengers:Infinity War cost $300 million to develop. It made over $2 billion at the global box office.

Nope when I acknowledged the producer of that film was American and see the trailer, I said to myself why would I pay to get insult, I rather see Star war movie than see how Westerners fantasized of China or Asian. And there is nothing wrong to earn money even as soldier, that how we become 2nd economic power, I can't say the same about your and your nation
