China's Economy Will Overtake The U.S. In 2018

But China do not need to match US per capita. People who claimed China needs to match US per capita to be super power are just sour graped. It is the overall whole economy that makes you the most powerful nation that matters. Of cos China needs to increase per capita but it did not need to match US. China has 4 times the population and just USD15000 per capita is enough for China to topple US out of the top.
Somewhat true. While I agree that China doesn't need to match the US dollar for dollar, what it does need to do is raise living standards to match the US. Cost of living doesn't need to rise, just the standard of living.

If Chinese can buy the same things that Americans can buy, but at a cheaper price, you're correct that China's per capita doesn't need to match the US per capita dollar for dollar.

Their economy isn't crashing, and if it is, pray that it doesn't happen any time soon.

If China crashes, the entire world will be affected negatively.

I agree. Let's pray that China isn't crashing any time soon because of its impact to the rest of the world.

The local Aussie news focus a lot on what's happening in the Chinese economy.

A slight change in China will have a similar corresponding effect on our stock market and currency. Afterall, China is Australia biggest trading partner.

Aussies don't care too much about what's happening in US or other countries (in the economic sense).
