Why is everybody concentrating on the date so much ? Have the Chinese left since then ?

Those of us who've been there & have family there never saw them in any of our encounters; maybe they only come out at night or in the wee hours of morning !

My own Dad has been to Muzafarabad twice since the earthquake & my cousins are from there studying in Lahore - Khudaa janeiii 11,000 Chinese hain ya Wraiths ke nazar hiii nahin aaateiiii ?

Good point! People here are missing the wood for the trees. The Chinese are there to stay! The only difference is that in 2010 there were in temporary shelters but now have built permanent accommodation for their 'workers' meaning PLA troops.

Here's more proof for the people on this forum who think that no Chinese exist there...

Freeze frames from the clip of Chinese presence. For those who insist that there are no Chinese in GB.....

May be they are somewhere very close to the Chinese border where there isn't much population.

There can be no smoke without fire. There must be something

Yes there is - Its the few hundred Chinese contingent that is helping us expand & improve the KK Highway not 11,000 PLA troops stationed in GB & AJK as if its an extension of the Middle Kingdom !

Friends, we can give them the beneffit of doubt, foreign troops do establish stations or bases there but Pakistan is a sovereign nation and the chinese could be building infra there just like how iran is building the oil pipeline.

Hey @SHAMK9 - Rora, you're originally from Swat....have your lot back home started speaking Chinese & started cooking a desi-fusion of the dumplings, yet ? :what:

Building tunnels, expanding/widening KKH, building a bridge over attabad lake are few of the projects Chinese are working on.

Gilgit Baltistan was never a part of kashmir.. it was an islamic emirate ruled by the amir of Hunza.. and those people arent even kashmiri... plus they are strictly proud of being Pakistanis.. with NLI entirely recruited from GB and even gilgit scouts etc ... heck there were protest with the people demanding the region to be settled and made a province of Pakistan... and guess what today it has a CM and a governor and is a province of Pakistan... also do take into account tht it was the gilgit scouts tht rose the maharaja of IOK in 47 and ceeded with Pakistan...GB also has the highest literacy rate in Pakistan:

it became a part of kashmir, willingly or unwillingly and thus,is disputed..and this is recognised internationally..

The thing is a third country cannot construct anything on disputed property and if something is essential it requires the permission of all dispute partners and in this case its India.

The thing is, Pakistan doesn't consider G/B as a disputed territory.

Technically no one can construct anything on disputed territory but we're both doing it; adding a 3rd country to the mix doesn't mean a thing !

I am sure, is it under UN and under dispute? I remember India objecting to both chinese presence there and to their construction activity and that is why they are doing it discreetly and why its taking so long. It obviously comes under our talks with Pakistan.

I wont mind if China takes over whole of Pakistan. They're still better then our lot.

The UN mandate has stipulated a lot of points to be fulfilled before the talks of a resolution even takes place, and all along this time one cannot leave the living population at bay with giving them infrastructure or governance, but the criteria is anyone of us can object and in the casee of India we do sought out Pakistans permission when required...the chinese presence and construction is illegal because India objects to it and they also deny their presence and construction activity vehemently. They are continuing to do it under the guise of consultation work and that is why there is a media blackout there and no outsiders are allowed.

I wish we could just settle our issues in a civilized manner through :

A Halwar-Puri eating competition between you & me, followed by us seeing who can drink the most gallons of Lassi & finally let the spectators on both sides see us two well-fed behemoths battle it out in the ring in a free & fair match of Turkish Oil Wrestling ! :)

Make that alcohol instead of lassi and no not grappling, striking, I can't grapple with you- you're too big- striking it is.

None of us our civilized, young nations still learning how to stand up in many ways...maybe in the next century..when I'll have gone the swan's way and you'll be in your grave.
