China's biggest ever stealth warship takes shape: New pictures reveal progress 'game changing' 175m

officials have been very careful not to reveal major details

Nothing officially published yet.

A military fan site has offered some conceptual idea of 055 based on 052D, 055 mockup in Wuhan and individual research. Features like two 64-cell VLS grids, IEPS (Integrated Electric Propulsion System, developed by Institute #712) and newly designed integrated mast were included. Here are some pics I posted last year, let's share again:

How can you be so sure?
Forget the rest of dynamics ,Oki ? Just think from this article about Chinese routes

ith the need for more protection on sea, this ship will have the ability to 'fight in the world, expand the political will of the Chinese state, protect Chinese nationals and defend its economic interests,' reports a blog for Tiananmen's Tremendous Achievements.

And because China greatly lacks oversea supply bases, Type 005 will provide more endurance while forces travel at sea.

This clearly shows it will some where around header to safeguard Chinese trade one of them will be on SCs just telling you how two of them will safeguard Chinese trade

Hmmm, you sure make a point.
But wouldn't it be a good idea of Pakistan also had one? (assuming that Chinese sell to us).

do pakistan have the $$$?
a destroyer is more for beyond littoral doctrines . you have frigates to fullfill the role of coastal waters domination. Hence, the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-22P_Zulfiquar-class_frigate is in service with the PKN. Thus, why would Pk need a destroyer for? it's the same as fanboy wishlisters praying for a nuclear submarine for the PKN.

Besides, this ship is the latest of it's class- why would China(and any other country) wanna export its latest toys(im not excluding the possibility of a watered-down variant for export in the future)? it's like saying China would export the J-20

Look at our adversary's navy. Dont you think this would be a good addition to PN?

I am also talking about a possibility of future export. A powerful PN is in China's interest. Just like a powerful PAF (or a powerful Pakistan for that matter).

Pakistan is China's reliable ally, I believe it's on the table. If we could assist them in n-weapons, why destroyer is an issue. Strong, powerful and propspous Pakistanis in China's interests.

Tell me, why aint any of the destroyers:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_051_destroyer#Type_051
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_051B_destroyer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_051C_destroyer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_052_destroyer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_052B_destroyer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_052C_destroyer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_052D_destroyer

that is in PLAN's arsenal- being procured by PKN yet, while the Type 053 frigates export variants ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-22P_Zulfiquar-class_frigate )are?

If you can answer this question, you basically have the answer to your previous question:

Look at our adversary's navy. Dont you think this would be a good addition to PN?

Though China is venturing into Type-055 (may carry new features like IEPS), mass producing Type- 052C/D, but yet still need to modernize some old classes like Type-956, 051B, 052B (progressing as we speak) to maintain overall fleet scale. It's comprehensive strategy (threat assessment, mission, tactics, etc), supply chain, as well as budget (from taxpayers' money, which is always tight), that determine what kind of assets are needed for a navy, that applies to both PLAN and PN.

As a quick review, PLAN has been testing various DDG platforms, and systems, for quite some time, so after 051-class (to be retired completely), only few ships are procured for each of these six classes:
  • 956/956EM (4 in this class, now refitting)
  • 051B (1 only, pennant #167, now refitting)
  • 051C (2 in this class, pennant #115, #116, to be refitted)
  • 052 (2 in this class, pennant #112, #113, to be refitted)
  • 052B (2 in this class, pennant #168, #169, now refitting)
  • 052C (6 in this class, apparently PLAN has accepted a fair quantity of this class, though yet to be refitted)
Before induction of next generation 055-class, PLAN has accepted 052D as primary class of DDG and procure in reasonable quantity (my estimate is 16~20 in total). Before 052D reaches a critical mass in year 2018~2020, refitting these 17 ships of these 6 old classes to the benchmark standard of 052D-class (e.g. joint service data link, radar/electronics, weaponry) would be an important stop gap program, so that they can be useful platforms in a net-centric navy.

This is correct, thus my post:
