Since its creation, it has seen the development of infrastructure like government buildings, schools, hospitals, banks, post offices and other shops and services.

By the end of 2015, Sansha city, Hainan Province, had four administrative management areas and ten residential communities, with over 2,500 residents, reports The Beijing News.

On December 22nd, 2016, a civil flight from Hainan Airlines landed at Sansha Yongxing Airport, which also serves as a military airport, marking the start of civil operations at the facility.

Further, a supply ship, Sansha 1 Hao, has been put to full use to meet transportation demand and to deliver commodities to Sansha.

The supply ship started its maiden voyage on January 5th, 2015. It had sailed more than 100 times as of December 19th, 2016, with over 64,000 people, 4,700 vehicles and 44,000 tons of commodities being delivered.

A 65-year-old man surnamed Lin, who has lived in Sansha for 19 years, said that life there used to be difficult, but now it's convenient to live in, as The Beijing News reported.

Meanwhile, sewage disposal work and waste transfer stations in Sansha are all in service, fulfilling the recycling of waste water.

We should also start growing tropical fruits, as well, just as we are doing in Taiping.

South China Sea island begins to supply fresh vegetables

A vegetable production base on the Yongle Islands has begun to provide fresh vegetables to residents of the islands in South China Sea, ending the historical reliance on produce brought in by ships.

The Yongle Islands consist of 13 islands, which are located 40 nautical miles southwest of Yongxing Island, the seat of Sansha. In 2016, the Sansha military garrison proposed building a vegetable production base on the islands. Thanks to the joint efforts of military and civilian leaders, a greenhouse covering 567 square meters was built on Jinqing Island, the administrative center of the Yongle Islands.

The greenhouse was built with materials that resist wind, sun and erosion. Solar panels were installed on top of the greenhouse to absorb excessive heat inside the structure. In addition, an intelligent system was installed to maintain the proper temperature.

At present, workers are growing tomatoes, amaranth and water spinach in the greenhouse. More vegetables will be planted in the future, with an eventual weekly yield of 200 kilograms anticipated.
