CHINA’S ANTI-GRAFT CAMPAIGN SHOWS NO SIGNS OF SLOWING FOR 2015

I think at the point the government desires to show a very stern, strict face by often overemphasizing things that would probably go unnoticed in many other polities. This is to firmly place a culture of control (auto as well as social and institutional). I guess this needs to be done for the sake of greater good.

Good points, buddy , and I acquiesce.

The corruption is part of the human nature, so I hope that CPC's anti-corruption campaign will never stop.

It is just like to clean your house routinely off dust or to scan the virus on your computer periodically.
If you live in Toronto, i'm sure you know how corrupt the officials here are. You heard of Orange scandal, missing $1b.

Probably not. Sad to say that there are probably so many real corrupt officials that Chinese watchdogs will never have to hype or fabricate evidence and charges.

Honestly as long as they are keeping up on this path it wont matter whether there are other corrupt officials who are not being targeted at this point, its inevitable that the door to corruption being closed one by one, independet of motive the same methods and fierce campaign could also be used by other faction within CCP upon exchange of power so its only logical for members of Xi faction to limit their desire for corruption in order to avoid furture backslash, especially since they are making official deals with foreign nations to destroy potential hidding places for corruption. At this point for the Xi faction the intention to battle corruption is genuine (or at least more genuine than anywhere else in current world), its already at such scale and fiery which can no longer be described as regular shake ups or inside counter faction struggle.

Any campaign won't last forever, mechanism reform is actually the most important thing to do, which Xi has implied at the begining.Let's wait and see.Inspection tour seems to be very frightening to corrupt officials, so it can become part of the future mechanism.

The campaign will never stop, although the scale will become smaller as more officials start to abide the law, but the corruption is part of the human nature, thus the anti-corruption/graft campaign will never end.

And I think CPC is the most efficient regime in term of the anti-corruption.

Agree 100%. For those who think our one party system is the source of the corruption problem, western style democracy doesn't prevent it either. India is just as corrupted as China, if not more. It's the people, not the system. Corruption has long been deeply rooted in our culture. It is almost as if the normal way is the wrong way, and everyone feels that nothing gets done if he/she doesn't bribe someone. To fix this, first we continue enforce the law, and in the meantime educate our people. It's going to be a long tough battle.

The western political system only covers the corruption and pretends it doesn't exist in their system.

All political systems are flawed, and there will be corruption being born, but at least CPC is honest and never tries to hide anything, unlike the corruption lobbyist system from the US.

Indeed there is no such thing as perfect political system, also even if one of such is found at a point as the world is evolving so must the system keep adapting on new situation, otherwise risking stagnation and inevitable social catastrophies.

Also, in fact CPC is certainly not more honest or less corrupt than any western system, they are just less complex and their methods and tools are "less mature", means they can't legitimate crimes or hide corruption as well as in western system.

When the traditional system of imperial heritage was forsaken completely and CCP began with adapting western system which halfway effectively got forsaken again, they have learnt how foolish it is to force foreign system upon native society elsewhere (as there are enough examples in southern america and india) now they are in the process to build up modern system suitable for China including all needed Chinese elements. At current step this half finished system made by CCP is making lots of pressure in the society but also very efficient in bringing up results whether good or bad, but with the will on the right path in the top with sufficient faith (or at least acceptance) from general public, this system is already capable of producing positive miracle (as unseen elsewhere) both for China and the world. Compared with half finished system of CCP, the matured system of the developed nations is slipping deeper into stagnation and decay, the biggest problem is that changing matured system is always more difficult if not impossible without forsaking it completely.

Well, I think the localization of the Marxism was necessary.

Today, CPC is only following its own political model which was explored and discovered during its own practice.

Corrupt Chinese fugitive repatriated from Zimbabwe
Xinhua, March 24, 2017

A retired Chinese tax official has been returned from Zimbabwe to China less than four months after he fled a corruption probe and hid in the southern African country.

It is Jiangsu Province's fastest repatriation of a corrupt fugitive, provincial anti-graft officials said.

Yang Xingfu, who retired as the deputy head of Local Taxation Bureau of Nantong City in 2015, fled to Zimbabwe last December, fearing a graft investigation.

Initial probes revealed evidence of Yang's abuse of power and acceptance of bribes in construction projects, corporate financing, and handling tax transfers since 2010 during his term of office.

The local procuratorate issued detention orders for Yang in January 2017. Learning he was in Zimbabwe, a law enforcement team was promptly assembled and dispatched, the officials said. Police in Zimbabwe held Yang and transferred him to the team in accordance with the law.

The case is still being investigated.

"The operation shows that there is no haven for corrupt officials abroad," said Yao Aishan, deputy head of the Jiangsu provincial procuratorate's anti-corruption bureau. "They won't escape punishment by the law, no matter where they flee."

Yao urged other fugitives on the run to turn themselves in to be considered for leniency.

China has stepped up efforts in international cooperation to hunt criminal fugitives. Operation "Sky Net," for example, repatriated 908 fugitives, including 122 officials, from over 70 countries or regions in 11 months last year.

Most fugitives have fled to developed countries, including Canada, the United States, and Australia, but a few have also taken refugee in Africa.
