Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been outspoken in his criticism of the Narendra Modi government's handling of the standoff with China over Ladakh, ever since it began in May last year.
Rahul has accused the Modi government of not being transparent about the extent of Chinese intrusions and had accused it of downplaying the severity of the threat.

On Tuesday, Rahul shared screenshots of two media articles to warn about the continued standoff. Rahul wrote, "We are facing a new war paradigm on our borders. Ignoring it won’t work."
Rahul shared screenshots of an article from The Telegraph that claimed China had built 10 new airbases along the Line of Actual Control and another report from News 18 on the PLA conducting a high-altitude exercise at night near Ladakh.
The Telegraph reported on Monday that China appeared to have built "at least 10 new airbases along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh besides ramping up infrastructure at its exiting airbases close to the Indian frontier".


The Telegraph quoted sources in the security establishment as noting China had been using the time afforded by the ongoing disengagement talks to fortify its positions in Ladakh.
New airbases address a weakness that the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has had in the region. Most of the PLAAF's major airbases have been around 400km away from Ladakh, making it difficult for fighter and attack aircraft to carry a full load of weapons during conflict over the Union territory. The Indian Air Force has bases in the region, giving it an advantage.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Chinese state media reported the PLA's Western Theatre Command had introduced more night drills for forces stationed near India. These night-time drills were held at altitudes of "around 5,000 metres," PLA Daily reported.
The exercises, reportedly, involved use of mechanised forces and rocket systems.

Are these "new" airbases that China has built capable of operating military jets or just helicopters?

It does look like China has ignored the threat from India and the border for too long and now they are making up for lost time which is causing the Indians even more stomach ache.

Real issue, in my view, is not Aksai Chin; but India's inclinations towards US and West, to contain China and harm its geopolitical interests. These border skirmishes are merely the signals, for India, to refrain from such activities.

So is the govt has to share everything with an mere tantrum throwing MP who could not even attend Parliamentary committee on Defence and when criticised, attended for the sake of it and walked out within 5 minutes for wanting to discuss issues that was on agenda that day.

Atleast unlike the MMS govt, they didn't even mention Depsang region was occupied in 2012. There are many achievements of MMS govt but their military policy was a disastor.

Chinese on the other hand feels India has already created enough infra against Pakistan and can repositioned easily against China in case of an war with regards to air infrastructure. Land wise we are catching up.

Yes. Of course, that is one of the key areas, where, in Chinese thinking, India is challenging China's interests, on the behest of US. My view is that per se border dispute is not the prime factor.

Yes. I know. But that border dispute is now merely theoretical, because both the countries have de facto control over the area, which they really want to retain: India on erstwhile NEFA, and China on Aksai Chin.

Previously, the PLA did not pay attention to the deployment of the Western Theater, especially the deployment of too few airports. This has led to the delusion of some countries to challenge China's core interests CPEC.
Now the PLA will correct the error.
