Wang Yi: China will resolutely respond to the trade war and will never accept any unequal treaty
Wang Yi: No unequal agreement can be established and it is impossible to get approval. If the US is willing to negotiate on an equal footing, the Chinese side will open its doors. If the US chooses to exert extreme pressure, China will resolutely accompany it to the end.
On May 22, local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Kyrgyzstan Bishkek. "I introduced the situation to the foreign ministers at the SCO foreign ministers meeting. The position of Sino-US economic and trade friction has been understood and supported by the foreign ministers."
Wang Yi: No unequal agreement can be established.
Wang Yi said that the recent Sino-US economic and trade friction has aroused great concern from the international community. "I indicated to the foreign ministers at the SCO foreign ministers that precisely because the US has always been unwilling to resolve China's legitimate concerns, the extreme pressure exerted on it has led to frustration in the consultations. I stress to everyone that the Chinese are doing more than just Maintaining its legitimate rights and interests is also maintaining the norms of international relations and safeguarding the free trade system. The facts introduced by the Chinese side have been widely understood and supported by the foreign ministers. The press communiqué of the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting clearly stated that the SCO member states should jointly oppose Any form of unilateralism and trade protectionism."
Wang Yi pointed out that if the US side wants to establish Sino-US economic and trade consultations on the basis of inequality, China certainly cannot accept it. No unequal agreement can be established and it is impossible to get approval. If the US is willing to negotiate on an equal footing, the Chinese side will open its doors. If the US chooses to exert extreme pressure, China will resolutely accompany it to the end.
Wang Yi: The United States suppresses Huawei as a typical economic bullying behavior
When asked, the reporter also told reporters that the use of state power to suppress China’s private enterprises such as Huawei is a typical economic bullying behavior.
Wang Yi said that some people in the United States now do not want China to have legitimate development rights and try to hinder China's development process. A typical example is that, without any factual basis, the use of state power on unwarranted charges, and the unjustified suppression of a Chinese private enterprise such as Huawei. This is a typical economic bullying behavior. The winners are more helpful, and the losers are helpless. The US-only approach that is unique to me will not be recognized and supported by the international community.
Wang Yi said that the SCO Foreign Ministers' Meeting passed a press communique. The parties in the communiqué jointly oppose any form of unilateralism and trade protectionism, with special emphasis on opposing discriminatory practices against mutually beneficial international cooperation in the digital economy and communications technology under any pretext.
