Car Sales

2017 YTD (Jan-Nov) China has 25.8 million car sales
2017 YTD (Jan-Nov) USA has 15.8 million car sales

China should end 2017 with over 29 million car sales and the US will be at about 17 million car sales.

China should see a 4% rise in car sales in 2018 with more demand from the interior of China.

US car sales are expected to fall in 2018 and 2019.

World Debt Today

The U.S. debt to China is $1.2 trillion as of August 2017. That’s 30 percent of the $3.05 trillion in Treasury bills, notes, and bonds held by foreign countries. The rest of the $20 trillion national debt is owned by either the American people or by the U.S. government itself.

China holds more than the $1.1 trillion held by Japan. Both countries have reduced their holdings in the past year, but China has reduced it faster.

China held $1.3 trillion in U.S. debt in November 2013. The reason China is reducing its holdings is to allow its currency, the yuan, to rise. To do that, China has to loosen its peg to the dollar. That makes the yuan more attractive to forex traders in global markets.

Long-term, China wants the yuan to replace the U.S. dollar as the world’s global currency.

Owning U.S. Treasury notes helps China’s economy grow by keeping its currency weaker than the dollar. It keeps Chinese exports cheaper than U.S. products. China’s highest priority is creating enough jobs for its 1.4 billion people.

The United States allowed China to become one of its biggest bankers because the American people enjoy low consumer prices.

China’s position as America’s largest banker gives it some political leverage. Now and then, China threatens to sell part of its debt holdings. It knows that if it did so, U.S. interest rates would rise. That would slow U.S economic growth. China often calls for a new global currency to replace the dollar, which is used in most international transactions.

Wow... Mr. Trump has said something profound! Very unpresidented!

That China is a peer competitor of the US (in every field) has finally dawned on Mr. Trump.

Soon China will be the global leader in EV innovation, production and export. And Mr. Trump wants to leave Paris Agreement.

Who is going backward and who is going forward?

That's a good looking car.

The interior looks very amazing!

The design surprised me greatly, as well. If I can land a job in the Mainland one day, I really would like to buy one.

I am just amazed at the aggressive look in the face and 21' tires (most SUV will have 19' tires).

The drawback, for me, would be the only 2WD configuration. Hopefully, in the future, it will also have 4WD and even AWD configurations.

Of course that would add to the price. Currently, I think, the full version is around 180.000RMB.

And I agree, the interior also has a very upscale, elegant look.

What is the reason for not having AWD SUV? Also keep in mind even though some car companies claim AWD, it's not on all the time unless it's a Subaru

China is THE competitor to US, Trump is a honest person and he just stated the truth. He doesn't try to sugarcoat it and just said it out bluntly.

I'm thinking at an opposite direction. AWD doesn't bring real benefits in the daily usage, also it consumes more fuel than 2WD. I dare to say >99.99% of the driving (to most car owners in China) happened in well-paved roads, unless they want to drive to Tibet.

More gas is used. In Canada its important because local cities are becoming poor, like developing countries. Local government are not shoveling road snow as often so SUV with AWD is required
