China will grow old before it gets rich - Another biased article

For someone like you who thinks by 2037-2047 Indian Navy is on par with PLAN, i'm pretty sure you are not taking this article with a grain of salt.
Oh poor Indian, I want to tell him accounting firms reports are good to read and laugh. They can't even tell if any companies they audited are committing fraud let alone predict any future events.

.
LOL, the Indian navy will never be on par with the Chinese navy!

. . . . .
LOL @ this article projecting out to past 2100. By that time aging itself will have been cured (most probably by Chinese biotechnologists). India will remain too poor to afford the rejuvenation biotechnology treatments necessary to remain youthful.

.
as well as being more open to migrants, and getting more women into the workforce.

What kind of dumb advice is that? Dragging more women into the workforce will only make the situation worse.

What do they mean with more open to migrants? All the foreigners China could be interested in in the world combined dont even amount a a drop in Chinas population and half come from countries with "unsustainable" birth rates. How are those going to help. Or do they want China to end up like Britain and France? No thanks. I will rather stick around old people than have little New Delhi slums pop up everywhere.

.
This is a Western dream that will never come to fruition. The West has been yearning for India to take over China ever since mankind has been roaming this planet. India just isn't fit to take on China. We are talking about two different universes.
You do realize that you were once part of the same universe and according to the current data Pakistan is not much different than India.

Pakistan is a completely different nation to India. We have nothing in common with you guys.

We will go our own way.

I am not talking about nations. I am talking about numbers. Looks at per capita income, HDI index or any metric of your choice. If India has under performed compared to China so has Pakistan. If China has left India far behind, it has left Pakistan even further behind. Pakistan currently is in a worse state and is growing slower that India.

China

Explore the latest strategic trends, research and analysis

For the past few decades, we haven’t been able to talk about global growth without mentioning China. Despite the recent slowdown, the Chinese economy remains the single largest contributor to world GDP growth.

A new report by Deloitte Insights, however, says that China will soon be playing second fiddle to India as the biggest driver of global growth.

The report, entitled Ageing Tigers, hidden dragons, argues that there is a “third wave” of economic growth in Asia. The first wave was led by Japan in the 1990s before China took over. But the Chinese-led second wave has already peaked, making way for a third wave driven by India.

Changing demographics

The third wave will be mostly driven by a massive increase in workers. Over the next decade, India’s working-age population will rise by 115 million. This is more than half of the 225 million expected across Asia as a whole.

Within two decades, India’s potential workforce will rise to 1.08 billion.

But it’s not just an increase in workers that will help propel the Indian economy. The new workers will be “much better trained and educated than the existing Indian workforce”, says Deloitte.

Meanwhile, Japan’s working-age population will shrink by more than 5 million, and China’s by 21 million, over the next 10 years.

In fact, India’s working population will soon outstrip China’s. While China’s population is already ageing, this won’t happen in India until halfway through the century.

China’s ageing problem

China’s ageing population will slow down its growth potential. While its one-child policy is no longer in force, the effects are still being felt. Soon, there will be fewer people of working age. Not only that, but because of the one-child policy, China’s population has aged faster than elsewhere.

As a result, China won’t feel the full benefit of its years of economic growth. “This is yet to seep into the consciousness of most of the world, which still regards China simply as a country with an extremely large population,” states Deloitte.

India won’t be the only Asian country to take over from China. Indonesia and the Philippines also have young populations.

What this means is that the size of the economy in India, the Philippines and Indonesia will rise, while that of other Asian countries will decline.

Countries that face this demographic decline have to support growth in other ways, says the report. This includes reforms that improve productivity – making workers more efficient – as well as being more open to migrants, and getting more women into the workforce.

A word of warning

“The next 50 years will be an Indian summer that redraws the face of global economic power,” concludes the report. But it issues a word of warning.

While rapid economic growth may be good news for India, a rising population could equally result in unemployment and social unrest. Getting richer isn’t guaranteed, says Deloitte.

“India needs the right institutional set-up to promote and sustain its growth. Otherwise its rising population could cause increasing unemployment and consequent social unrest.”

At Least we have less poverty in percentage and in number than India does.

India has way more poverty than Pakistan has in percentage.

Now shut it and go cry me a river!

Automation only reduce cost & labor. Its not going to replace labor anytime soon. The coming demographic imbalance will mean lost of productivity across the board & lost of taxable population.

You badly need to learn more about How Modern Economics Work.

In poor country like some South-east Asian countries, YES ! Robot Workforce will not Replace human labor anytime soon. and Poor government badly need their people's money (taxes) as their revenue and to fill their Deficit.

BUT

In Country such,China.
Robot Workforce already fill their Factory to increase their Production with minimum workforce.
For example, before you use Robot in your factory, you need 600 workers but with Robots you only need 60 workers.
