China will create own Christian belief system amid tensions with church, says official

.
i believe atheists are more stronger believers than theists. atheism gives recognition to the presence of theism, lets make it easier to understand, when you say you don't believe in god, well that is also a belief, isn't it? i am neither an atheist, nor a theist, but i am a believer because i have to believe, i mean... lets leave it, its like repeating descartes in a derridian style

Good point, this is true. It means, you don't believe anyone else, but yourself. So, I think why the religion has foundation is because it helps to form some social principles. Like this one:

The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Believe yourself is atheism, to share your thoughts with others is religion. In the long history of religion, it will create social connections and conventionalized social order.

I think most patriotic Chinese members here are atheist. What i like about Buddhism is that the monks don't go try to recruit members. It's definitely the best religion compared to the Western ones. There were no crusades, no witch hunts in the existing history of Buddhism. It's a free religion, believers don't have to be vegetarians and are not forbidden to consume alcohol.

Agreed, Buddhism is peaceful, it teaches people to do good things. The principle of "coming again and again" in Buddhism make people obey their belifes, not to hurt others. I generally think it's good, except the passivenss.

Correct. I mean, the last I recollected, wasn't Jesus Christ a Hebrew ?

Yes, I believe they are regarded as Kaifeng Jews. Their ancestors were ancient Sephardic Jews who traversed the silk road from Judea into Cathay (China) hundreds of years ago.

Kaifeng was the world largest city, the capital city in North Song, with a population of 1 million, all the people in the world come here. No wonder it has foundation in Kaifeng.

Kaifeng in the Song is called 东京. :azn::azn:

Yes, yes. As far back as the age of the Roman Empire when Judea was a province of Rome, the silk road connected Judea to Parthia and as far back as the Han Dynasty China.

In Christian theology, when Christ was born, there were Three Wise men from the East that brought gifts of gold, frankincense , and myrrh. These three wise men from the East could have come from Cathay, India, Parthia etc.

What is important is that the trade between Cathay and Judea was already present....

so when the Chinese police and military beat up Tibetan monks is that considered peaceful?

lol, why does skin color have anything to do with catholicism???

Catholicism is supposed to be a universalist religion that affirms racial equality as a matter of doctrine. And yet every pope has been white :coffee:. We all know that a Pinoy will never get to be top dog. The cardinals in the Vatican probably sneer at the very thought, that those dumb brown conversos can ever be one of them. And that's too bad, because it seems everyone is in on the joke except for the Pinoys themselves .

You are a narrow minded person. Just because I revealed something you don't like, you started to troll my threads.

1, When did Chinese police become Buddhists?

2, In the history, Tibetan killed many people in Tang Dynasty, they fired the border villages, they snatched Han Chinese women to Tibet to be sex slaves. China is too kind to the Tibetans, we build schools, medicals, and transport there, we together with Tibetans make Tibet better. If they don't like China, they can go to India, but leave the land.

It's especially important to stamp out and purge catholicism, which requires adherents to worship and submit to a foreign white master living on another continent. If catholicism ever gains a serious foothood in China, the country will resemble the Philippines :fie:.

can you please explain what is wrong with the Philippines. I don't intend any agenda, just asking a question.

did not mean to offend I just assumed most Chinese are buddhist and follow the principles.

no offense but most Chinese are like drones in mentality.

They cant leave that land because they are natives of that land.

That's just very wrong of you to presume and judge. What i like about Catholicism is a universalist concept that all are equal before Divine Providence. No need to add condescension, my man.

. . . .
China should always remain majority Atheist.

And if someone needs to be religious, we have plenty of native religions. What's the difference really?

China is known throughout the Islamic world for being the land of wisdom, knowledge, and tolerance for around 1450 years, since its inception. The mosque in Xian is 1000 years old

I agree with the concerns of Chinese members, but some of the comments seem very xenophobic and racist. I understand this could be the reason why the Japanese didn't adopt Christianity en mass, but still the Koreans did and they have maintained their culture and language, even though some Chinese believe its mostly stolen from China

I agree with Chinese developing their own home-grown Church. Many countries have done it. I understand the threat Catholicism can pose to the sentiments of many traditional Chinese people

Any religion only has limited space in China, no matter it is muslim, christian or buddhism.

In our long history, we had 3 large-scale national campaigns to destroy buddhism when it was out of hand. We don't hesitate to do it again to any religion in the future if neccessary.

can you please elaborate a little more on those campaigns. Can you provide a link so that I read about them.
