Do you know what is the meaning of innovation?

Just because you use the most of it, does not mean you invent the thing, just because 78 or whatever percentage of China were producing Solar Technology, that does not mean China invented Solar Power, the same as Electric Car, the same as 4G. What you are talking about is the usage and application, not innovation.

If I am not wrong the best gauge of innovation is by looking at patent filings. Example is the US patents and trade marks database.

Real gross domestic product(GDP) increased at an annual rate of 2.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019 (table 1), according to the "advance" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the third quarter, real GDP increased 2.1 percent.

Current dollar GDP increased 3.6 percent, or $191.7 billion, in the fourth quarter to a level of $21.73 trillion. In the third quarter, GDP increased 3.8 percent, or $202.3 billion (table 1 and table 3).

The US GDP is soon going to become negative, and we are going to outlast them for sure.
