Ya China is not willing to fight a war with a country like India. If China would have to, it would fight to cancel the US domination in Taiwan and other strategics areas where it has to hold grounds to defend its mainland. India is "aiween" getting into the way but India sees itself as the future super power and is not going think rationally. India cannot "Kill" China neither China call "Kill" India. I read the article, please be advised that the article is not written by the govt of China. How often do we see such articles from our side? The answer is "very". Please deduct the end result, for any country its economy should be its top most priority, obviously without compromising on National Security.

Kinshuk, I hope what you are trying to say here is true, but I am afraid it is not.

In India the different media channels that you feel are adding fuel to the fire are at best trying to ramp up their scale of operations just from a PoV of TRPs and ratings. I really have not come across any report, ope -ed or suggestion from the Government or any other responsible organization of having said or done something which does not befit their respnsibilities and stature.

Please be advised and very well so, that in the one party led system as we see in PRC, press is just not free. And mind you everything that goes up in the media - print, electronic or otherwise goes through the tremendous checks before they are put forth for public consumption. I have followed the Chinese media (particularly the english ones; like the China Daily) very closely to tell you that it is far from what you think is the case.

Everything is screened before it goes online. So it is basically a no-brainer that the CCP or the party does not know who are the writers, what are their credentials and what they are trying to convey. The bottomline being if you see anything on the Chinese media please be assured that it has passed the rigorous scrutiny of the large teams of people hired for this purpose. And as and when they are online, it is clear indication of a subtle fact - that is the TACIT APPROVAL of the media cell.

Compare that to India's where there are no checks and rules, and each and every channel has its own propaganda to produce and air news of their choice be it sensitive or be it pro government or be it anti government.

The Chinese government would certainly say that they do not own up to what people write or show on their channels and papers, but all these news items are passed through rigorous screens.

Nothing of that sort happens in India.

Just a simple example; during the 26/11 assault, the irresponsibility of the Indian media to hype the things and happenings has helped the terrorists and their handlers in immense ways. This is an open fact and that they have actually benefited from these are well known. One the water goes by the GoI rises from the slumber and then we have TV programs talking about discretion which was required from the media houses.

But alas the damage had been done.

China's contribution to peace in Asia so far has been to supply conventional and nuclear hardware and knowhow to Pakistan thereby resulting in a spiralling nuclear and conventional arms race in Asia. China itself has ofcourse been the principle benefactor of this arms race as Pakistan buys 80% of the military hardware that China exports.

Now to assume the role of the benevolent grand daddy, a bit difficult to digest I think. Conflict of interest not withstanding. If peace really prevails in south asia, who will buy Chinese arms? The ULFA, the Nagas? the Maoists? Yes. Chechen and Dagestani rebels? Yes but those could easily end up in East Turkestan. Oh no! who else? Algeria? Ecuador? come on.

On the face of it, does not seem to be a sincere and honest offer. Only an extremely transparent PR exercise. India should counter with an equally absurd offer of forgiving all past wrong doings of China if China makes the Dalai Lama the Chinese president. Afterall he is a Chinese citizen as per Chinese claims and that would definitely give a boost to Buddhism in China. Ooops.
