China vs the US: who will win the chip war?

I hope China does. We Pakistanis should help China as much as possible.

We should give raw materials to China for their huge Industrial plants and manufacturing centres.

Japanese dont love taiwanese, they think taiwan is still japanese colony that they can intervene at will. Japanese slaughtered more than 500 K taiwanese during their 50 years of the island colonization. The japanese need to be taught a lesson like the hiroshima and nagasaki by chinese in the near future for that and their past sins. The japanese only love themselves and yankees.
Actually, that is quite true. The Japanese having million killed by american ,woman raped by american GI , getting nuke like barbarian made Japanese submitted and being loyal to American.

Bushido culture behave this way. You must torture and humiliate them until they loses their human sense and pride and they instead will love and respect you instead of hate.

But China don't need Japan to submit to China. They are no more a threat to China but just a small fly and pest which poses little hinderance to China elevation to world power.

it is ridiculous to say TSMC is nothing without suppliers. TSMC made many process innovations and have been brilliant at it.
This entire industry is too deeply connected and intermeshed. I dont know how this de-coupling works.

Of course USA!

USA has Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Microsoft, and Apple.

Even if China is able to make a better processor like 1000x faster than USA's processor, like Godson, who is using Godson? And what is Godson can do? Where is the PC, the laptop that uses Godson?

AFAIK - these are semiconductor areas that chinese are on par with best in world :
a) High end mobile chip design - (Hisilicon) - this happened before restrictions
b) Mass manufacture of 14nm and below chips - happened after restrictions
c) High end GPU design- Biren - this happened after restrictions
d) High end NAND chips design and manufacture - YMTC - this happened after restrictions.

Areas where they are still playing the hard game of catch up :
a) High end general purpose chip fabrication
b) high end chip design for servers and non-mobile devices
c) Supply chain in NAND chips - they still rely on LAM technologies of us to make them.

Tsmc is a contract manufacturer. All of machines, technology come from the West.

It’s China vs. US+allies. Who will win?
I bet on the latter. The possibility you win is very low. Much like Russia vs. Ukraine+allies. Who will win?
China's AMEC 7n etchers are used by TSMC and Samsung.

The biggest market is in China. The government can manipulate to give homegrown companies compete better. All PRC government acgency are required to use godson chips PC. Their profit already guarantee certain portion.

Its a matter of time, US portion will be trim and market shart halve. Nvdia shares already suffer becos they lose China market for AI chips.

The US will. Not 'can', but 'will'.

here is a joke in Taipei that if China invades Taiwan, the best place to shelter will be in microchip factories, because they are the only places the People’s Liberation Army can’t afford to destroy.
No. The author seems to be ignorant of semicon manufacturing.

The first targets will be Taiwan's infrastructure such as electricity and water. Once China destroyed those, Taiwan's semicon fabs will be inoperable for several yrs to come.

READERS,

Only one of the PDF Chinese have any semicon manufacturing experience. Do not take this article seriously.

The real hooligan countries are US, japan and vietnam.
Nonsense
We are a peaceful country.

A car has 10,000 parts. I don’t know how many parts Tsmc factory has, probably ten million parts. Even one or two comes from China that’s too little.

Which west? If you count Japan, Korea and China as West, it may be correct, as East Asia dominates all steps of chip making process. ASML is just a machine assembler. The DUV technology was Taiwanese-invented (now SMIC uses DUV, Nikon-made lithography machine to make 7 nm chip). The silicon wafer are all made by Japan. The chemicals are made by Taiwan, Japan, China and Russia. And with all of that, Intel is still struggling to make 10 nm semiconductor.

Simpletons will think this is a bad vs good battle and winner takes all scenario. We had never been better than the West in chips for the past 100 years, did we die? Did our country collapse? Don't look at this as a do or die scenario. What wil happen is there will be 2 ecosystems, China with a smaller one but still sufficient for our needs, we had no. Intention to be the best and dominate others, this is a Western thinking. We want independence, meaning we can produce whatever we need without fear of sanctions. Stop thinking like an idiot.

The US will. Not 'can', but 'will'.

Win what exactly? The current semiconductor industry is already western dominated. TSMC is just a contract manufacturer which can produce cheaper and more efficiently. Did China collapse or die? Lolol.

What US fear is not about China winning, the fear is about China being independent and giving other countries a choice. Do you get it my dear cheerleader? This is a battle between a hegemon trying to cling to power against an emerging power trying to be independent. Any outcome in the future is already better than our current situation, we might have a 5nm machine and be independent, US might have a 2nm machine and then what? We are doing something which US is not even capable of doing, having the entire chain in China.
