China, Vietnam agree to properly settle maritime disputes

True, then why would Vietnam want to cut China out as number 1 trading partner? You can't depend on your enemy.

Well, let's see, a growth in bilateral trade in the past 2 years at a rate of 200% is definitely not the thesis of contraction, is it? I believe that the VCP fully understands the necessity in trading with China and to encourage greater levels of trade. As for term 'enemy', I believe the use of that term is a --- forgone conclusion. A better term would be competitor. As it stands, however, both Hanoi and Beijing have made it known that diplomatic rapport can stem the tide of unpopular (negative) nationalistic assessment.

I have confidence in the CCP and VCP --- working things out for the greater good.

Vietnam and China would have a much better relationship today if Xi Jinping did not make the greatest blunder with the deployment of a oil rig. He should have known that VCP could not afford to back down. the vietnamese people never accepts a government that knees down before China.

I agree, but one should appreciate the diplomatic play, my friend. In regards to that Oil Rig episode, both parties won. China's Leadership showed to its population of its ability to leverage its power in territories it claims. While on the other hand the VCP did not back down , and the eventuality showed that China's rig was removed from contested waters. Both sides -- China and Vietnam -- won the public relations battle. ;)

Back to business... ;)

"won the public relations battle"? no, not completely yet.

If Japan signs the TPP, that won't prevent her from forming an FTA with China. For example, Australia -- she signed an FTA with China recently --- yet she's still signing the TPP.

Vietnamese buddy, while the TPP enables Vietnam to have greater access to the markets in say -- US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan et al -- it doesn't necessarily mean that Vietnam will abrogate its trade agreements with China, in fact, there is the potential of Vietnam and China signing a FTA in the foreseeable future.

Second, Tho the markets in TPP will be an economic boost to Vietnam's agricultural and industrial components -- these will only be a synergistic benefit to Vietnam. I don't see any change to the $30 Billion bilateral trade between China and Vietnam, in fact, from reports -- this will only increase in 2015 and beyond.

In discussions regarding national development , intraregional developments -- its important to divorce nationalistic sentiment.

Thank you and take care.
U think US create a TPP deal is just for Fun ?? No, its a eco sanction to China, and the deal dont come to reality yet bcz US is having oil war wt Russia now and US is winning. As u can see No country in EU dare to trade wt Russia, JP dare not ,too. So the same thing will happen when eco war between US-CN break out, no country can trade wt CN or they will get US sanction.

JP will have to cut all trade wt CN, just like German-France have to cut trade wt Russia even it will make German-France eco get worse.

I've only been on PDF for 10 days and I'm already used to the viet-style flame.
It's fun to watch sometimes.

Many hundreds years ago Vietnam was a vassal to the Middle Kingdom.
Many hundred years ago, China was colonized by Mongolian, Manchurian until 1911.

On the contrary, this year's record bilateral trade between Vietnam and China proves your premise quite wrong. Btw, the bilateral trade between Vietnam and China is nearing $60 Billion per annum. That's a 200% increase since 2012 !

Vietnam-China trade: how much can VN get from the $60 billion cake? - News VietNamNet

you do not understand mentality of Chinese. When you depend on China something, they could stop it in critic time to harm you badly.
