China urges Pakistani leaders to resolve issues over CPEC project

ISLAMABAD: China on Saturday took notice of the recent political divide among local leaders over China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and urged the political parties to address their difference in order to create favourable conditions for the completion of CPEC project.

The People’s Republic hoped that the relevant political parties in Pakistan could strengthen communication and coordination on CPEC to create favorable conditions for the development projects.

A spokesman for the Chinese embassy in Islamabad expressed the hope that “relevant parties should strengthen their communication and coordination on the matter”.

"We are ready to work with Pakistanis, to actively promote construction of CPEC projects, and bring tangible benefits to the people of the two countries,” the spokesman added.

The spokesman further said that the multi-million dollar CPEC project is the consensus reached between China and Pakistan, and has won popular support from the people of the two countries.

“CPEC benefits Pakistan as a whole and will bring development and benefits to the people of the country,” he maintained.

Earlier in the day, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said the government has addressed the reservations of all parliamentary parties of Balochistan regarding CPEC’s western route.

Ahsan Iqbal said Balochistan government has also assured full support in completion of the project, Radio Pakistan reported.

The incumbent government is determined to protect the national project as it is a game changer for the country and region, he added.

When it comes to CPEC, this is a myth that was busted long ago. Some people really ought to spend their time and energy better.

Seeing how childish Pakistan was acting China had to step in. Wow goes to show you how immature we are being.

The provinces are literally happy in riping this golden ticket apart just so that they can satisfy their egos and their provinces...

Every province should co operate with the Chinese and the federal to make sure this comes to fruition and the federal should listen to their issues and find a way to solve them. In the mean time the project should not face any delay.

Well why not Bark a bit more in Public. That way we can be sure that project is shelved and we continue to live as cavemen with any electricity or gas.
We are our own biggest enemy. I just cant understnd why when this project when completed will tickle down all the money to provinces as NFC award. We dont deserve any progress bcz as long as morons like khatak exist there will be no progress. CPEC will be another Kala bagh and this will be legacy of PTI. Congratz to all Youthias.

I don't know whats the problem going on with PTI , First they tried destroying the economy of Pakistan by dharna's now trying to sabotage a billion $ project . Some thing seems fishy here . Even if the government makes the western route the'll point out something else and they will again start crying over it .

The most important question is that why is cpec corridor going thru punjab-----why is it on the south side of indus river----.

It should stay in baluchistan and then to KPK and stay on the north of indus till KPK----.

Brininging it thru punjab and thru Lahore is reducing its military importance and making it feasible for future India trade thru that route---.

Nawaz is not stupid----he has counted his marbles already----.

Basically---any route of cpec coming south of river indus thru the length of pakistan is being dishonest with the project.

Strategically---the Quetta route is the best.

Two potential answers:

1. Wait for some member to drag in conspiracy right from RAW to Mossad and CIA. That will suit the mode.

2. (Most likely) Problem with all the politicians on either side of the boundary (they seem to have their brains stuck in their rear ends). They fight over their egos - the nation be damned. On the other hand, Pakistan was sensible till 1970s, then you started interacting with Indian politicians ... now look what has come to pass ... your political class learning from Indian and Congress learning from Pakistan ... sarey mile hue hain ... mujhe aur tumhe ladaa key dono countries ka bewakoof bana rahey hain ....

There is something called politics ... if there was sense, would you need to crib? The long term plan is to integrate trade across all routes, in the end, economic development will rule the roost, the national boundaries will be artificial in some more time to come.

More often than not, a poor country needs to concentrate resources to give the development a jump start. It needs a process with proper priorities. Sacrifices have to be made here and there. It has no luxury to spread resources too thin, which in the end accomplishes nothing.
