China turns back Lao Airlines flight for failing to comply with ADIZ rules | Open Skies content from ATWOnline

Finally China did play rough on its ADIZ. I wonder how they will apply on the SCS sea "freedom of navigation".

BTW I feel like this forum has become more like a quarelling ground. Let's post some more news here.
I don't think a lot of heads will turn if China leverages itself to enforce the ADIZ. They do have that right, as do other states of retaliating in equal. The real fireworks will begin when China takes the next step and blocks movement that is fully off its territory.

It has been quite sometimes since China declared ADIZ in ECC, and they finally took actions to prove their capability. At the same time they have live ammo drill in SCS, amid the rising tension (the ongoing case in IJC, Japan considering changing its policy, etc). Isn't that just adding oil to the fire?

Also there are countries not reconigzing China ADIZ (Lao is not one of them however). I can smell an international incident happening.

Nothing will happen .

A routine press conference of China Ministry of Defence on the 30th, the spokesman Yang Yujun said, recently a Laos airliner when flying over the East China Sea had entered China's airspace. It had subsequently been turn back by Chinese air traffic control. This matter had nothing to do with the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone.

Department of Defense: a foreign aircraft flying over China's airspace without permission prohibited entry
At 17:13 on July 30, 2015 Source: China News Network

A routine press conference in the Ministry of Defence on the 30th, the spokesman Yang Yujun said the recent authorization of an airliner flying over Laos, East China's airspace when the route is prohibited from entering Chinese air traffic control authorities, this matter has nothing to do with the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone.

A reporter's question, Laos last week, an airliner in flight to Laos from South Korea, approach the ECS region, China's air traffic control authorities allowed it to enter China's air defense identification zone, ordered to return to Korea. Does this mean that the Chinese side on the issue of foreign aircraft to enter the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone will take similar action?

Yang Yujun responded that, after the Chinese civil aviation sector understanding, Lao Airlines 916 flight routes flying over China's airspace, as the airline plans to apply for a temporary lack of clarity flight, China repeatedly contacted the civil aviation sector, but did not get a response. July 25 morning, the flight was not the case in China plan approved, unauthorized take-off and intends to overflights Chinese airspace. Chinese air traffic control department under the work rules and procedures to ban the flight entry.

Yang Yujun emphasize that this has nothing to do with the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone. If you want to know further information, you can get to know the civil aviation sector.

Nobody needs to recognize our ADIZ. ADIZ is not territorial airspace. We didn't recognize Japan nor the US's ADIZ. It didn't stop them from sending military jet to intercept. Same wise, we will continue to sent military jet to intercept anyone entering our ADIZ without notifying us in advance. Thanks for your concern, my friend. LOL

Confusing! It's not territorial airspace, yet you have the right (you think you have) to deny access to whoever not follow your protocols. I thought if someone does not identify themselves in ADIZ, then they cannot enter China airspace. I don't know if Laos airline fly path pass through China airspace, but I believe Lao has already gave China their flight plan already.

You need to stop with your nonsense. It is our rights to intercept any aircraft that enter our ADIZ without prior notification. This is to protect our airspace but also to protect incoming aircraft from accident. Imagine a terrorist hijack an aircraft flying in our ADIZ toward our airspace. Of course in that situation, we will radio signal and immediately send jet to intercept. Without response, we will shoot it down.

Lao airline fly in our airspace without prior notification.

As far as I understand ADIZ is not territorial airspace yet. There is nothing wrong with establishing an ADIZ to control aircraft coming and going. However, establishing over dispute area is just asking for trouble. Also your ADIZ needs to be recognized by others, and if I am not wrong, not that many countries actually takes your claim seriously.

Stop your double standard bullshit. Look at the Japanese ADIZ and tell me if it's fair for them to extend their ADIZ so close to our territorial airspace that we don't even have a breathing room. Our response is fair and square. You put your ADIZ close to us, we will do the same. Also, my friend, nobody care if an ADIZ is recognized by others. We didn't recognized Japan ADIZ either. When we create our ADIZ, our intention is clear. WE WILL START TO MONITOR INCOMING AIRCRAFT. So our advice is you notify us to prevent accident. Is that CLEAR?

Capslocking your reply doesn't make it anymore convincing. I seriously doubt that your ADIZ is simply an area to start monitoring. I bet it can become regular patrol flight area too.

Our ADIZ will be no different than the US's ADIZ.
