China is leading the medal tally at the 14th FINA World Swimming Championship in Shanghai. It has dominated the diving competition by winning all the gold medals and it has also taken silver medals in syncronized swimming competition.
As at the 23rd July 2011, China has a total of 20 medals with 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 1 Bronze, Russia comes in second position with a total 13 medals. Guess this will change as the swimming competition starts as from Sunday the 24th.
But all of us is wondering where is mighty, shinning and powerful India in this World Swimming Championship. All emerging countries are present except India as usual.
India is supposed to be a country with much similiarity with China having both 1 Billion people but with a more younger population. As Indians are younger they should beat the Chinese except in the case Indians cannot swim but this is rather strange given that India has a longer coastline than China. Swimming is also a good measure of development Index, as the capacity to bring your kids to learn how to swim in pools denote an infrastructural, leisure, sports and hygiene development of a country. Or else Indians practice only Cricket. Anyway congrats to China and keep it on.
