why? do you really enjoy the conflicts b/w two nations? you don't understand the feeling of people when a neighbour intrude into their place.

No, we do not enjoy conflicts in our neighborhoods. But, we thought it is the nasty India who likes to poke nose in every neighbor's internal affairs. India has captured Kashmir, Sikkim, NE and others.

India has been financing Taliban suicidal bombings in Pakistan and asking for transit facility from BD incessantly.

The way the small-minded Indians threat us with the talk of massing their coward troops into BD as if they are the real big DADA of the world. Now, Indians are trembling with fear that China has sent only a platoon of PLA troops to safeguard the sovereignty of Bhutan.

The way the fat-bellied Indians talk we were impressed into believing their prowess. Now, we see they are just a small kitten in Ladakh and Bhutan with the token presence of PLA.

Indians, please, please wake up, and be brave and fight to preserve your independence. If you remain big talk as usual, then your neighbors will tear your country into many pieces.

Why talk of Agni? Do you think throwing a few missiles can win India a war when its troops are known internationally as a bunch of renowned coward who flee the battle fields at the hearing of first sound of gun fire? Stupid and coward Indians love this life so much that they do not want to die even for their country!!!!!

indian armed forces liberated your mushy land in 1971. How dare you calling them cowards? 90k pakistani troops surrendered to indian army!
Go cry somewhere else.

Bhutan , technically in all major facets that defines an ethnicity and nationhood, are tibetans and hence part of the great chinese nation. The fact that its an independent entity shows lack of chinese "imperialism" as many of their enemies blames them for while it was utterly naive and gracious on china's part to allow Bhutan and innocent bhutanese to be oppressed by demonic chanakyans over all these years. Its about time PRC frees Bhutan from these chanakyans.

China now intrudes into Bhutan?-News-Exclusives-TIMESNOW.tv - Latest Breaking News, Big News Stories, News Videos

Btw the video in the above link is so funny. The analyst they bought in was saying "china have perception difference all along the border with all its neighbor - Bhutan and India.:omghaha: It was news to me that china has only 2 neighbors. Even their experts have perception difference when it comes to geography courtesy to chanakyan education system.

"If Tibet is the palm of the hand, the Himalayas are the outstretched fingers."

- Mao Tse Tung

1. The Chinese have never forgotten what their founding father had preached. Slowly but surely they persevere in achieving their goals. We need only to wait till they have consolidated themselves in Tibet which has been living in stone age till recently.

2. It is not by chance or intrigue that this topic in the BD sub-forum. We are very close neighbors. Bhutan and the Himalayan peoples depend much on the people of delta, ie, us. However the wall flying the tricolor has ruptured this historical link. In prehistoric age the Bay was nearer Bhutan. That would be a reason why dry-fish is both popular and revered in this mountain kingdom. For the retired King Wangchuk's coronation, a royal team was sent under the Speaker of Bhutan to procure dry fish from BD. It is teachers from here that initially preached Buddhism to Bhutan, the Himalayan peoples and Tibet. Whereas Urdu (not Hindi) is easily understood all over SA, in Bhutan it is Bengali. Bhutya / Bhutanese language is akin to Bengali. While Bhutanese do not like people of other races or faiths in their country, they welcome Bangladeshi Muslims. They mostly work in shops and as butchers. Buddhists are allowed to take meat but not take any life. So our guys do the slaughtering all over Bhutan. There is another reason which I shall come to later. BD people are also working in great numbers with IA's BRO with Indian ration cards provided by contractors.

3. Sikkim, Bhutan and S Tibet are historically provinces or vessel states of Tibet. Rulers in these states had always owed allegiance to Lhasa till the British came. However, the spiritual allegiance of the peoples to Dalai Lama, through a network of monks, have never been disrupted. In olden days direct supervision or monitoring of these states was impossible owing to the terrain and climate. However, whenever necessary Lhasa would send down sorties. In an effort to explain that Bhutanese are unfriendly to Tibet, visitors today are shown the preserved remains of a monastery - said to be burnt by Tibetan "invaders".

4. Bhutan was the first nation to recognize an independent BD - no doubt as desired by Indira. When retired king Wangchuk's coronation took place Sheikh Mujib, realizing importance of Bhutan to us, sent President Mohammadullah to attend. There was no airfield or even a helipad near Thimpu in 1974.A BAF team was sent in advance in choppers to fabricate a helipad quickly. The BAF team camped there till the President returned. In fact his chopper had to land at IAF Hashimara en route.

5. Couple of valleys in Bhutan open up in Tibet. If the rivers are not in spate, the valleys are good for troop movement with Engr effort here and there. Ha valley is particularly sensitive. IA (not Bhutan govt) does not allow any foreigner to visit this valley. It is through these valleys that smuggled goods like Tibetan carpet, shawls, handicraft, etc are smuggled into sell in the Kolkata market.

6.When Indira Gandhi was out of power for some time, Ziaur Rahman lost no time in convincing King Wangchuk to establish embassies at Dhaka and Thimpu. Our ambassador was the first ambassador in that country. Till then the Indian mission was known as the Residency under a Resident like the colonial days!! When Indira came back she is said to have expressed her displeasure with the King. But it was too late. Zia and Wangchuk arranged trade at almost zero tariff. Nationals of either don't need even passport to enter the other. Officially they need any valid ID to prove their nationality. Zia has obligated the Bhutanese to us for ever.

7. The other Zia that Bhutanese remember is Zia Ul Huq. When India was pressurizing Bhutan to decline holding the SAARC summit, he told them during a visit to go ahead disregarding Indian reasoning that Thimpu did not have enough facilities to host such a summit. Zia had famously stated that if Bhutan held the summit he would be glad to attend bringing tents for his accommodation.

connect to Bangladesh? How? I'm only basing on the map above, but it seems, even taking over the whole country, would still be separated by India.

This move makes no sense. Why go into this place. Anybody sure this isn't some sort of misunderstanding or something blown out of proportion?
there is always some 'misunderstanding', as long as the great indian media is in its TRP hugging tactics.
and every time our media comes up with something such as above, our bangladeshi frens reach n camp in the 7th heaven. althoh in most of the articles presented by the indian media, are immediately brushed off terming as propaganda by the above mentioned frens.
i think chinese govt should give some alms to indian media so that tehy are not overly anti chinese all the time.

Can anyone explain what China's position is on Bhutan, along with its geo-strategic implications?

Also, is India willing to provide any road link with China through the "Chicken-Neck" corridor for the sake of regional economic integration? And why?

.
Hindustan will offer nothing, except empty rhetoric.

Anybody with sufficient experience of following their tall claims and empty promises should know better than to trust them.

For long term strategic stability around Bangladesh, the inevitable outcome is a set of independent states (Nagaland, Ahom ?), which together with Bhutan and Nepal, should rely on Bangladeshi 'security umbrella' to the south, and Chinese 'security umbrella' to the north. In return, their underdeveloped economic and industrial sectors, their consumer markets can be greatly enhanced thanks to infusion of technology and capital (in low and mid tech industries).

Because India want to help bangladesh in achieving their dream of " Greater Bangladesh "( hint: read post#29).
