I am unable to find the original research paper however here is an article describing the device that is capable of measuring a single phononThat’s not new. It’s a race between stealth and radar.
The US is far ahead of anybody though they began developing stealth aircraft and other countermeasures during the Vietnam war as a means against North Vietnam radar guided missiles.
We can assume the US has a means, too against Russia and China stealth aircraft. Believing the US not developing anti stealth radars is naive.
About phonon, it sounds interesting, I didn’t know it. Can you post the link?

Furthermore, there is no argument that USA is way ahead in defence tech in comparison to China. And in a equally favorable battle ground China stand no chance against US military technology and war machine but China is strong enough that now USA cannot attack China mainland without taking a heavy blow itself and most probably will loose.
No matter how strong you are but in actual battlefield logistics is the most cruicial factor. Even a country like Afghanistan could not be truly captured despite using daisy cutters. In case of China, how can USA attack, by using its 6 of 11 super carrier or may be from military bases in Japan, South Korea and Central Asia. Even in that case China's mainland has its own miliatry industrial base and has quantity on its side. No matter what how advance F35s are the can carry operations from the carrier only which is limited is spares and fuel and cannot guard the air 24/7 on the other hand China's mainland can attack these carrier at will and can really take a hit due to huge numeric superiority (in case of attack on Chinese Mainland).
In short, Chinese military power despite of being inferior to USA has surpassed the threshold where it can be invaded by any country alone. The only scenario where China can be invaded is by involvement of NATO which is highly unlikely.
