Sigh ... if Chinese respected the Tibetan culture and religious practices, things would be a lot easier for them. The New Year festival should have been a happy occasion for tourists from all over the world to come and celebrate. Maybe they could also visit other Buddhist sites like the Shao-Lin monastery.
