China to build additional Beidou satellite network stations in Pakistan

Well , it covers the whole region completely so it is sufficient for us for the time being , our threat profile isn't that big , mate .

Not to mention the Global Positioning System is unreliable in times of hostility and can be shut down by the Americans at any time of their liking .

I'm not complaining, I'm glad that we have the same navigation technology that the Chinese are using for themselves. I consider it nothing less than a gift from China.

He said Pakistan, Thailand and India are major potential Beidou users in the fisheries sector

from where India came??India has already developed satellites which will help them in fisharies...

.
What the report fails to mention, is we will be getting access to the military version as well as the civilian version - this will enable us to have access to very accurate co-ordinates for our precision guided weapons especially the new J-DAM type weapons.

A potential market. India is a free market based economy, if Beidou turns out to be better, private corporations will opt for Beidou. India has satellites, yes, but it's still behind China in this regard.

Congratulations That Really is a great news....keep it up! pak & China... ALLAH BLESS YOU BOTH ... :pakistan: :china:

I think Pak will have fully shared Beidou system not only civilian version

We already have full excess to GLANOSS(military level) plus India's own Regional GPS with a radius of 1500km around India will be fully operational in 3 years starting n the first statellite will be launched in June 2013 itself.

So, i don't think even private players will be interest in Beidou plus India won't be setting up ground stations like Pak for Chinese system.

Besides we already have various other satellites n not to mention GPS for civilian use...:)

Again, nothing to do with having and not having, it all has to do with reliability. If Beidou proves it's worth, then it may grab a foothold in the Indian market.

The sheer fact that Beidou is planning on expanding into India should tell you that they already have a plan in place to grab a market share in India.

Beidou chip is being offered at much cheaper than other sat nav systems and that's their selling point to civilian mass market.
They manufacture beidou chip with buiot in capability of processing GPS and other signals.
That is another of their selling points...so Indian phone tablet pc and other such manufactirers might get hold if baidou.

China ain't gonna provide us similar level of signal as it provides to Pak or as Russia provides to India.

Plus Indian satellites will be more customized for Indian requirements.

Moreover its we already have GAGAN(gps Augumanted system) for example for improving accuracy of GPS/GLANOSS/IRNSS while China is yet place such a system.

As far as reliability is concerned Chinese communication systems always rings bells in New Delhi so with uncertainity over Govt. Policies the unhindered access to Chinese system remains questionable....:)

.
American website Defensenews.com reported early May that Pakistani military experts were in favour of using the Chinese system, even though the availability of the signal could not be guaranteed in case of conflict.

"Pakistan's armed forces cannot rely on US GPS because of its questionable availability during a conflict that has overtones of nuclear escalation," former Pakistan Air Force pilot Kaiser Tufail told the site.

So whats the difference between the GPS and Beidou ?

Again, we just don't know at this point. Like I said before, the fact that China is thinking of moving into India suggests that they already have a game-plan in mind
