BEIJING: China today announced that it has successfully test-fired a new 14,000 km range inter-continental ballistic missile which can carry multiple warheads, providing it with a "first strike capability" to attack targets deep inside the US and round the world.

The Dongfeng-41 with strike distance of 14,000 km was test-fired by People's Liberation Army's (PLA) Second Artillery Corp last month, state-run CCTV reported, showing a rare lengthy footage of is mobile missile units.

"The new missile's mobility, precession and war head yield combined give China a first strike capability," the report said.

As many as 10 nuclear warheads can be put on the missile. China claims that it will not be the first one to use nuclear weapons and says its nuclear forces are designed for counter attack against nuclear attack on its territory.

Analysts say the missile with multiple warheads also strategic significance to India as it came in the backdrop India's successful test firing of Agni-V which could reach deep into several Chinese cities.

Highlighting the rapid development of China's missile programme which has caused concerns in India, US and other countries, official told CCTV that the Second Artillery Corp has developed since its inception in 1966, several division like the ground to ground strategic nuclear missile forces and conventional operational tactical missile forces and support units.

Simultaneously, the state media also announced that China's first Aircraft carrier, Varyag has set out for 10th sea trials. The retrofit carrier, whose hull was bought from Ukraine is capable of carrying 30 fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.

It was expected to become operational later this year.

CHINA MISSILE TESTS NOT DIRECTED AGAINST ANY COUNTRY

China's national defense ministry stressed that recent missile tests are not directed against any particular country during briefing.

Geng Yansheng, spokesman of Chinese Ministry of National Defense, says, "Recently within China's own borders, we've conducted a series of routine tests in weaponry and equipment. These tests are not directed against any particular country or target. The purpose of China to develop its weaponry and equipment is to meet the requirement of ensuring national security. China pursues a defense policy that is defensive in nature, and follows a military strategy of active defense."

China has tested DF-41 ICBM and JL-2 SLBM

China acknowledge that on July 24, its 2nd Artillery Corp. tested DF-41 ICBM. This month, China has also conducted JL-2 SLBM test.

The Dongfeng-41 (DF-41, CSS-X-10) (Chinese: 东风-41; literally "East Wind"), is a Chinese nuclear solid-fueled road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile that is currently under service with the Second Artillery Corps. It has a rumoured operational range of 12,000 km, is believed to be capable of MIRV delivery (up to 10), and can cover any position on the planet. The project started in the 1980s, and is now quite likely coupled with the JL-2 program.

Military experts had expected that it could be unveiled at the 2009 National Parade. However, rehearsals of the military parade did not feature this missile.

The JL-2 (Chinese: 巨浪-2; pinyin: Jù Làng-2; literally "Giant Wave 2") is a Chinese second-generation intercontinental-range submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) which has a two-stage, solid--liquid-fuelled propulsion design. Accurate specifications of the new missile are hard to obtain and substantiate due to the secretive nature of the program. However, the missile is thought to be able to deliver its payload(s) up to a range of 8,000 km (5,000 mi) and can carry either single or multiple warheads (conventional or nuclear).

China's 2nd Artillery Corps: New Trends in Force Modernization, Doctrine and Training

The Second Artillery Force of the People's Liberation Army, China's strategic missile force, has been keen to modernize its troops for the past decade. It was founded in the 1950s, and after more than half a century it has developed into force with advanced technologies, high adaptability and comprehensive tactics.

Exercising under complex electromagnetic environment.

All the units participating are equipped with actual combat weapons, imitating a fast-take on the missile launching site, then carry out the launching process.

And missiles from different places have all reached the targets.
Lan Jiyin, Director of Military Training Dept. of Second Artillery Force of PLA, said, "To enhance the all-round capacity of the forces, we have been carrying out exercises in different areas and under extreme weathers and complex electromagnetic environment. A missile can now be launched at any time and strike multi-targets."

The exercises Lan talking about are now common task for the Second Artillery Force, as they take place over 4 months in a year.

Experience and data bits collected during the exercises are helpful in analysing functions of the weapons under different circumstances. It also provides for the artillery force ways to improve and adjust their launching technics, making them more strategical and flexible.

Meanwhile, a women missile launching company has also been set up in the Second Artillery Force in 2011.

China and its missiles tests only known when successful. and seen only in news or in stolen pics.

also active defense!! u mean like going on and attacking small countries of ASEAN and claiming it is defensive for protecting Chinese sovereignty.

Active defense definition: declare other country as your, then launch pre emptive strike, declare as defense to protect your land  damn funny cant stop laughing!

In other countries scientists and tests and R&D decides when will they achieve certain results in technology.

In China ccp decided when china will have certain technology by showing on TV and Press  (R&D and real tests may or may not happen but ccp can make anything happen)

every year, the DF-41's range seem to be increasing

we all know your country is incapable of building a reliable cryogenic engine let alone building a solid fueled mirv'ed icbm, good thing we are not india and each year our missiles improve in capabilities closing the gap with the US and further widening the gap with you.

.
Congratulations to China. :enjoy:

This is good increases the deterrence.
