China surpasses US in the eyes of young Africans, 76% names China as a foreign power with a positive influence on their lives, survey shows

If you think what US doing is the only right model for every country especially China to follow, you are totally wrong and China doesn't give a dam about your such arrogance. After all, your adopted country US where you live now is the most racist country and has worst racial violence and discrimination against colored citizens and immigrants. US is the worst human rights abuser and violator at large scale in the world, period. And you don't have to teach me on how great, fair and open in racial eauality is USA, just bullshits ! Don't be hypocritical on China and anything Chinese, China doesn't have to and doesn't want to follow your US model in everything, period !

But, most Africans sure don't agree with you that China is enslaving them economically as the above poll indicated, Africans by the large think China's investments, business and trades with them are sure good for them and improving their livelihoods.

Is that why you are sitting in Canada? :D

. . .
Please look up HYPOCRISY in the dictionaly. :D
I think you should know it better because you Americans practice it way better than other people in the world where you people are preaching to Chinese to do racial equality and human rights everyday while you people are the worst violators. While I am living in North America, I don't have to agree with everything going on there, disagreeing with some of the practices of the countries especially your hypocritical and evil country USA doesn't make me a hypocrite. What is your logic or you are just licking up to your white masters ?

Why don't you Americans accept refugees from Ukraine and Mideast such as Syria and Afghan now ? After all, you Americans and Europeans created the humanitarian crises there, hypocrites.

China is not an immigration country, it's almost impossible for foreigners to become Chinese citizens.
Personally I wouldn't mind Pakistan doing dual nationality with China.

If China allows dual nationality that is.

Why so butthurt brown sahib? Does the truth hurt? China also has a far more positive influence in Pakistan than your USA.
Not surprisingly China is very popular in the developing world. Because China is honest unlike USA.

China surpasses US in the eyes of young Africans, 76% names China as a foreign power with a positive influence on their lives, survey shows

‘There is no question that China is the dominant player in Africa today.’
By Bloomberg News 13 Jun 2022

China has overtaken the US as the foreign power seen as having the biggest positive influence in Africa by young people, according to a survey released on Monday.

A survey conducted by the Ichikowitz Family Foundation found that 76% of 4,507 young Africans across 15 countries named China as a foreign power with a positive influence on their lives, compared with 72% for the US. In 2020, when the inaugural study of 18-to-24-year-olds was conducted, 83% of respondents saw the US’s influence as positive while the figure for China was 79%.

The results are further evidence that China is winning the battle against geopolitical rivals such as the US and the European Union for the hearts and minds of Africans. Beijing has plowed money into African infrastructure over the past two decades and supplies the continent with affordable consumer goods ranging from mobile phones and solar panels to shovels and plastics.

“We see China having climbed to pole position, we see a recognition of the fact that China is engaging in Africa at a time when when very few others are,” Ivor Ichikowitz, chairman of the foundation, said in an interview in Johannesburg. “In Africa, America has played a very very limited role, its actually played an embarrassingly insignificant role in terms of actual investment, actual trade, actual building of infrastructure.”

Dominant player

In addition to its vast mineral and energy resources, Africa has the world’s most youthful population and is seen as a potential market for the future by countries ranging from France to India. In terms of perceived positive influence, the US has now slipped behind the UK and European Union as well.

“There is no question that China is the dominant player in Africa today,” Ichikowitz said. “Overall we are seeing a much more positive approach to China, that’s going to drive a lot more engagement with China.”

Positive sentiment toward China was strongest in Rwanda, Malawi and Nigeria. The survey, which involves lengthy face-to-face interviews, will be run annually.

Still, China’s influence is not seen as universally positive. Of those surveyed 56% said they believed the unverified conspiracy theory that Covid-19 was developed and intentionally spread by the Chinese government.

The survey also showed that young Africans have lost faith in their own governments, and are increasingly concerned about climate change and discrimination against women and ethnic minorities.

Key findings of the survey:

  • 32% of young Africans said they were excited and optimistic about the future of their countries compared with 43% in the 2020 survey. Angolans, Zambians and
  • Malawians were the most pessimistic of their countries while Nigerians had the dimmest view of the continent’s future.
  • 39% said they wouldn’t take a Covid-19 vaccine even if it was easily available.
  • The top priority for those surveyed was job creation.
  • 72% of youth said they are concerned about climate change, citing worries ranging from droughts to increased pollution.
  • More than half of those surveyed said they planned to emigrate in the next few years.
  • Ichikowitz founded the foundation and also heads Paramount Group Ltd., a South Africa-based defense and aerospace business.

Who are the lackeys to the Anglo Saxons world renowned ? Indians, every knows ! Yeah, you people even use your colonial master's language English as your country's official language, adopt your colonial master's political and government systems . Some of you Indians too have Western names and your country are used as a tool and lick up to your masters USA and Britain all the time. Talk of inferiority complex and slave minds.

Come on. I have come across countless Indians that Anglicize their names in the West. Dev becomes Dave, Surjit becomes Sunny, Nikhil is Nick, Jatin is Jay among so many more.

Right, so China wants to make economic slaves out of Africans, but not let them come in and live with them in China? Figures!
Let Africans themselves decide if they are slaves or China really improves their lives, not a western slave who is not even from Africa.
Cheerleaders worry about their masters decline all across the world more than their western masters, how pathetic.

Why is US falling behind in popularity among young Africans?

China has overtaken the US as the "foreign power" having the biggest positive influence in Africa in the eyes of young Africans, Bloomberg reported on Monday, citing a survey conducted by the Ichikowitz Family Foundation.

According to Bloomberg, the survey found that 76 percent of 4,507 young Africans named China as the "foreign power" with a positive influence on their lives, while the figure for the US was 72 percent. In 2020, 83 percent of the respondents saw the influence of the US as positive, compared with 79 percent for China.

How could China overtake the US in just two years? This was hard won given the non-stop malicious Western slandering against China.

For an example, the survey showed the false reports about the COVID-19 origin-tracing caused 56 percent of the respondents to mistakenly believe that the coronavirus is a "man-made virus released by China." Such disinformation against China is malicious, but it becomes even more interesting to look at the favorable view of China against a background of vicious slanders concocted by the West.

In the past two years, despite some Western media outlets have been keen on playing up tensions by engaging in a China-bashing competition, more African youth still hold a favorable view of China.

Their favorable views could be attributed to several factors. First, China has been involved in a variety of infrastructure projects across the African continent and is keen to help build land passages such as railway lines, roads, ports, bridges, as well as dams, skyscrapers, and power stations that greatly helped African countries improve their economy and the people's living standards.

In recent years, China has increasingly invested in the continent through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The initiative has assisted many African nations improve their infrastructure that laid the foundation for achieving broader common prosperity in the continent. This could be easily felt by young Africans.

Second, vast inexpensive made-in-China products have emerged as popular items embraced by young Africans. China's exports to Africa rose an impressive 13.4 percent year-on-year in the first five months of this year. Young Africans are increasingly willing to spend more to buy Chinese-made products of good quality, such as electric bicycles, smartphones and game consoles.

Third, China's investments on the continent have no political strings attached. China succeeds because it offers developing countries what they actually want, and China respects the choices of the development paths and social systems of the African countries. In contrast, the US has overly focused on political intervention while providing investment or economic assistance there. It is often the case that investment is used as a tool to advertise American values to Africans.

The US government needs to rethink its economic relationship with Africa and give more respect to Africans. The survey conducted by the Ichikowitz Family Foundation has rung the alarm bell for the US.

China is not interested in engaging in a geopolitical rivalry with the US in Africa. The young Africans' views of China's gaining "increased influence" in Africa suggested that we are moving in the right direction to constantly improve our brotherly relations with African countries. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic which weighed heavily on the global economy, China-Africa economic relations remain resilient and vital.
