Tamils aren't lost the war, "Tamil Tiger" terrorist group lost the war. True there are pro LTTE Tamils in here but not all the Tamils. Even in the last election President Rajapaksha's party able to secure around 37% of Tamil votes in the North.

I feel,if Prabhakaran didn't happen and there were a little liberal leaders and if India intervened and actively supported them,things could have been good in Srilanka.

Actually that was the plan when India sent in IPKF, but Prabhakaran killed off all the liberals. Prabhakaran was an effective rebel leader, but never was a good politician.

No use cribbing now,India should either be forceful or just let the Tamils of SriLanka sort it out.IMO,the Tamils in the island dont have much to do rather than learn sinhala and mix into the mainstream.

They can form a votebank and get together like a minority and do something for themselves,it is a shame but there is nothing much we can do.

BTW,

Dont blame Rajiv Gandhi a lot.Prabhakaran played a lot of politics to keep Rajiv Gandhi also out of this.

We don't need "Tamil leaders" or "Sinhala Leaders" or "Moor Leaders", We need "Sri Lankan leaders" I don't care whether he is Sinhala/Tamil/Moor/Burgher/Malay or any other ethnic who live here. Just contribute to the country you're living in. Just look our western province, Mayor is a SL Moor ethnic, also governor of Western Province is SL Moor ethnic.

I'm Sri Lankan, I have some dislike things about india but I never wishing harm to any Indian. But India is just like a sleeping volcano I don't want to go deep to explain it. Be careful and be moderate when you demand any thing from your own country/government ( I know it's not my business ) , Keep the race away. You guys live in blocks, but our lifestyle and the feeling is so different, we can move between one end to other very short period of time, can move between weather conditions in few Kms, love the freedom and uniqueness of Sri Lanka. We will be Sri Lankans, you'll be Indians. We will find solutions for our matters for most brighter & developed future in ASIA. (South Asia is nothing to us )

All that is not true,

The condition of Tamils in Srilanka is exactly the same as TamBrams in TN,

Basically when the Brits had their policy,a few percentage of people got educated and advanced quickly.Tamils of SL speak Tamil,Sinhala and English and the Tamils of Northern province dominated everything in SL.They had great land,great agriculture,great culture and were/are sharp people.They are industrious,hard working,god fearing and successful people in general.

But when your government tried to do the Sinhala only act/Standardization Policy and District quota and all those things which heavily marginalized the Tamils and thats why they started the militancy,nothing else.

I agree that this was a bad political choice,they took a lot of people for granted and they created a big syndicate and add to this mix,the non vellalars,the fishermen,the catholics,the plantation tamils of Kandy/Colombo,it makes a bad politicsl quagmire.

But nonetheless,this is the only end to this story.

Regarding India,you are free to not worry about India and whether it is a sleeping volcano or not,regardless of all this,you are saying all this just because of China but nothing else.Your country may be this and that and all that but dont forget that by acting cool now and if at all inviting a Chinese base in your country,whenever a skirmish happens the crossfire ll directly onto you and nobody else.
