China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia & Vietnam getting more competitive in Asia

Sorry we have to use our own workers because Vietnam does not have the skilled workers we need.

We're running an aluminum extractor and smelter. This isn't rice farming. This is high tech operations. The Vietnamese workers have no idea how to properly use the equipment and training them will take too long, so we bring a few hundred trained technicians into Vietnam.

On the other hand, Vietnam is supplying southern China with over 100 thousand unskilled illegal immigrants. If you kick out our 100, then we kick out your 100 thousand, deal?
You're being overconfident.
Believe that Chinese are already sorta very advanced civilization, right?
China's scientific and technical achievement are already at the level that the rest of the world have to play the "catch-up game", right?
When Intel opened its chip testing and assembly facility in Ho Chi Minh City, they even did not complain about Vietnamese "inferior workers" as you did. Could you hire a skilled worker for 1 USD per month?

China indeed is currently at the forefront of the world (defined here as top 3 countries) in many areas such as telecom equipment (Huawei and ZTE; Huawei is the 2nd largest telecom equipment supplier in the world with the most patents filed in 2008), shipbuilding (largest tonnage of ships built), military aircraft (3rd country to produce a 5th generation prototype), research (2nd largest producer of academic papers), banking (ICBC is the largest bank in the world), oil (PetroChina is 2nd largest oil company in the world by market capitalization) and numerous other areas i won't bother to list 1 by 1.

Is there ANYTHING in Vietnam that is top 3?

Hehe, but you will support some carzy guys like Pol Pot in ASEAN to harm VN, and ASEAN need Power to protect our self incase USA withdraw from ASEAN due to her economic problem.

Pretty sure Vietnam had a bigger hand in bring pol pot to power. The fact that he turned on you later is your own fault.

This is what brought Pol Pot into power. I see Vietnam's name under on Pol Pot's ally list, but where's China?

China is indeed going really fast. No doubt that it will be dominating economic scene in the coming 2 decades. No one has a problem with that. Provided its political and military ambitions don't come in the way. If that is there, then most welcome.

But it was they who then again helped them dismantle the loony called Pol Pot. Oh and BTW, Pol Pot's ideology was derived from Maoism, and I am sure that Mao Ze Dong is not Vietnamese. The Vietnamese form of communism was actually influenced by traditional Soviet mentality rather than what insanity Pol Pot caused in entire Kambhoja (Cambodia). Clearing off cities, forcing city-breds to work on collective farms, killing people in thousands using the infamous Killing Fields with hoes and pick axes to save bullets... all typical signs of Communism. He and his lunatics made it a point to kill off all the educated class of the society so that no one could rise against them.

But then again, we talk about Communism. You should be agreeing with me on this considering that CCP is only a communist by name these days ever since Tiananmen Square incident.

Tip. Leave history and thinking to those who have a clue.

Without US-China complicity, Pol Pot wouldn't have enough power to kill lots of his own people, that why ASEAN must unify and be aware of CHina's plot , so CHina can not support some bad guys to mess up ASEAN solidarity and then she can crush one by one after that. :)

Vn and Indonesia will lead ASEAN to the next stage and CHina'd better colaborate with us than trying to support some crimes against humanity:P

the growth of asia definitely depends on the growth of big asian economic giants like china and indonesia , good to see them grow and it is quiet inspiring to see vietnam grow despite so many wars , and i don't think sri lankan economic growth is going to have any major effect on the economic prosperity of asia , it is more dependent on big countries like china and indonesia , while sri lankan economy is quiet small ......the western countries see countries like china , indonesia and india as attractive destinations for investments in asia , because of a cheap work force and potential consumers
