These new sanction against the Chinese and Iraqis have another hidden message; Syria. China should not let the US control it's economy.

China slams new US-Iran sanctions as 'serious violation of intl rules'

Fresh US sanctions against Iran, targeting not only the country’s oil industry but also foreign banks have sparked a furore. China warned Washington of a worsening in Sino-American relations, while Iran said the penalties amounted to "military war."

The new set of sanctions is aimed at forcing Iran to end its supposed development of nuclear arms. The financial penalties will target the Chinese Kunlun bank and the Iraqi Elaf Islamic bank as they have participated in million dollar transactions with Iranian banks and are as such subject to sanctions.

These banks will be cut off from the US economy in an effort to discourage them from doing business with Iran.

"Today's action makes it clear that we will expose any financial institution, no matter where they are located, that allows the increasingly desperate Iranian regime to retain access to the international financial system," President Obama said in a statement.

Additionally, Obama ratcheted up the sanctions on Iran’s energy and petrochemical industries, approving sanctions against any entity that tries to purchase Iranian oil from the National Iranian Oil Co. and the Naftiran Intertrade Co.

Furthermore, Congress has agreed on a final sanctions package that will crack down on institutions that ship or insure Iranian cargo. The Senate is expected to vote on the sanctions before the end of the week.

The new penalties sparked a sharp reaction from China who said the US sanctioning of their banks would lead to a worsening of bilateral corporation between the two countries.

"The U.S. has invoked domestic law to impose sanctions on a Chinese financial institution, and this is a serious violation of international rules that harms Chinese interests," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said in a statement.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad also released a statement decrying the new sanctions as “ridiculous” and a move to deprive the rest of the world of resources.

The chief of Iran’s central bank, Mahmoud Bahmani, went a step further, saying that the sanctions equated to “military war” and that Iran should take the necessary counter measures.

Iran maintains that its economy will be able to withstand the ratcheting-up of western sanctions and refuses to curb its nuclear program which it claims is civilian based.

Barack Obama’s tactics have come under fire from Republican rival Mitt Romney who believes the President does not take a tough enough stance on Iran.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu echoed these sentiments on Sunday when he said that the economic penalties have not affected Iran’s nuclear development “one iota.”

The Obama Administration denies this and maintains that their sanctions are highly effective.
Iran’s currency has taken a severe hit since the US imposed its penalties at the beginning of the year, said Ben Rhodes deputy national security adviser for strategic communications.

"We have put in place crippling sanctions on the Iranian government. We have thrown the book at the Iranian government in terms of leaving no stone unturned in the sanctions regime,” he said.

Nothing wrong with praying with Jews or being a Jew, however they are bowing down to Zionism.

Iran has large missile arsenal, any attack on them will get a solid retaliation. This ability of Iran to retaliate is what is stopping the west from using military action. Anyone that can punch you back pretty hard, you don't want to pick a fight with. Iran is not Iraq.

iran does not have the capability to attack america directly.. and im sure any american plan to lay to waste irans nuclear program would also include knocking out most of its capability to retaliate

.
Iran is going to build their own nuclear power plants regardless.

Seriously?

How about reexamining the NPT , which gives recognized nuclear powers a god given right to expand their arsenal without any restriction.

im against anyone having a nuclear arsenal.. every country should slowly get rid of them... and no new country should be allowed to gain them.

and reexamining the NPT will do nothing to prevent iran gaining nuclear bombs

China will definitely not get involved in war with US for Iran.

true, it will use an issue like that to divert attention away from its bullying of its neighbors and will most likely assert itself more so in the SCS aggresively while the usa and other powers are preoccupied

China will definitely not get involved in war with US for Iran.

Maybe not openly (although some Chinese generals said they would), but China will absolutely be involved, and will do its best not to let Iran fall.

Several reasons why they'll do that, in case anyone thinks otherwise:

Step 1. Iran (and to some extent Syria) holds full West attention now. If Iran falls, US and co will turn their full attention to China. How does hundreds of thousands armed guerrilla terrorists flowing to China from all directions sounds, including arming gangs within the country? Dividing the countries on ethnic/religious grounds is West specialty.

Massacres left and right, bombings, etc. Infrastructure, security, economics - all will be affected. And its hard to eradicate guerrilla fighters as many cases show, like whole NATO couldnt beat Taliban in a decade.

Step 2. West will blame China for "killing innocent civilians" and cut-off oil/gas supply to China. ALL major oil suppliers would be under US influence after Iran's fall-down, how long do you think China would last without oil/gas?

Step 3. US and alies would try to install pro-US government in China, and would continue steps 1-2 as long as needed to make that happen. Its vastly cheaper instead of fighting directly, to send the mercenaries to do the dirty job.

In case one is thinking "but China holds trillions worth of US assets", - not in the scenario above, US will simply default its debt for China, not like US cares about honorable business. China could nationalize US companies in its territory, but its pennies compared to the assets in US. West would also confiscate China's banks accounts in West, and even use its billions to fund the very terrorists they are sending to China.

Does anyone still thinks China wont get involved if Iran will be attacked? They'll do everything in their power to prevent Iran's fall.

China dn the US are quite closer than most think. They have a consumer producer relationship, which both of them value at the moment.

So they won't be going to war with each other anytime soon, let alone for a foreign country.
