PRC is recognized by UN not ROC.

Taiwan is the like the friendzoned virgin. He think he can get recognition and attention by the popular kids being nice, imitating the cool kids and complaining about China who is often bad mouthed. However, the world doesn't work that way, you can never be leader by follow and instead have to stand up for yourself and take what is yours in order to be important and respected. China may not be the nicest guy and a lot of countries do talk shit about China but they nonetheless come running when China is around.

Declaring that Taiwan as the Republic of China (ROC) is NOT the same as splitting Taiwan from the mainland as a separate country.

Instead you should try to enlighten the premier of Taiwan. I think they made it clear that ROC is an Independant country, a different tone than 'only China'.

Taiwan's official name is Republic of China. As long as they still hold the notion that both sides are part of China it'll be OK for both sides. They can't take over PRC and PRC doesn't want to fight an unpopular civil war, so status quo is the best for both sides now.

Taiwan is Republic of China, if PRC starts a war that'll be regarded as a civil war for two political parties fighting for dominance and will be opposed by the Chinese people of both sides. But if Taiwan declares independence that'll be another story, then a war will become upholding the country's territorial integrity and will be supported at least by the people of mainland China. That's why Taiwan is not stupid, they never dare to change the name cause they know that means a sure war that they can't win.

China cannot deal with Taiwan ? Taiwan is already being slowing integrated into China. Diplomatically isolated, economically and financially integrated. Travel restriction simplified, student exchange in place. China Military already covering the entire island including the EAST coast of Taiwan. What's left is only a peace treaty.

ROC or Taiwan claims, it's a sovereign country. They used to claim they are the legitimate ruler of PRC or China, and what he is saying is a clear deviation from one China policy. That is Independent Taiwan.

What you deduce can't change the fact that he means ROC a independent country which I think is negotiable cause it at least was even before PRC. Taiwan is not a country , it's a name of a province. there is no such a place called Republic of Taiwan.
