China says citizens arrested in India were tourists

In the past, a Roman would simply utter the words, Civilus Romanus, and be able to walk in foreign lands with no fear, as all feared the power of Rome. During the Han Dynasty, someone who even looked Chinese could wander into barbarian lands with no fear, because Hanwu said, 犯我强汉者,虽远必诛!Today, what happens? Our citizens get arrested for no reason other than forgetting their documents!

In the future, I hope that we must only utter the words 中国, and people would think twice.

If there is a Republic of India on world's map (which i am sure it will be ) uttering of a few words wont save any criminal ..Everybody on indian soil is supposed to abide by its law..No one is exempt including Indians..

An update:

It seems that nothing suspicious was found by intelligence agencies and it is likely that the three Chinese nationals would be deported.

The three Chinese nationals arrested from Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh under mysterious circumstances would be deported to China, government sources said on Friday.

The Chinese citizens have been booked under the Passport Act for entering India illegally.

Top sources in the ministry of home affairs told Headlines Today that New Delhi has decided to send all three back to China.

The move comes after Chinese government touched base with India on Friday morning and protested the arrests, made earlier this week. A senior Chinese embassy official met the director (East Asia) in the ministry of external affairs and handed over a note verbale.

On Thursday, the Chinese foreign ministry had claimed that the arrested people were tourists who had crossed into India by mistake and had sought consular access to them.

The UP Police had rubbished China's claim and said that the trio was held while clicking photos of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) camps, which are prohibited areas. The police said that the SSB seized an Indian permanent account number (PAN) card, issued by the income tax department, from them.

these chinese illegally entered India from Nepal ... were taking photographs of India military establishments on border ....

An Indian Pan Card was found from them(A PAN card is issued with so much delay in india was found so they are not tourists) ... 3 Chinese arrested in India are tourists not spies: China - The Times of India

so they are spies .... and shud be dealt with LAW of india ...

we dont **** care whether this makes chinese ppl angry or thr authoritarian govt angry ....

Spies should be dealt like spies ...

and tourist should be welcomed with bottom of our hearts ...

How hard is it for India to cook up a crime for these Chinese Tourists ?

Splashing the word "Spy" all over the story headlines is a bit far, wouldn't you think?

Get used to the Indian media. You should know how they inflate every thing. Even in the CWG games they were the first once going off and inflating everything, before foreign media even started opening their mouth..

Even not to long ago they were going off at PM Singh..

lol !! I live in Himachal Pradesh (State in INDIA adjecent to China and where most of the Tibetians and Dalai Lama live. ) We have plenty of them. I grew with few of them. Don't you consider them Chinese people, living in India Happily ?? [We donot hold them forcibly here you are welcomed to take them back anytime you want] We have also many Eng, that are from mainland who work in Road Projects.

This incident did show some indians attitude towards China. That is, they are very suspicious about China and thus Chinese people. To some degree, it did reflect some hostile mindset. Remember, there was a Chinese tourist who had been detained by Taiwan police for taking photos around a military station a while ago? They all came from the same source of fear.

This has nothing to do with hostility.

What would China do if an Indian tourist was found taking pictures of military camps around Chinese side of the border, travelling without any visa ?
