the J-10B should not be compared to the LCAMK2 as they are in different categories its like comparing a SU-30MKI to a F-16

the J-10B would be comparable to the MMRCA fighter we are getting in terms of weight and capability

Yeah,but that does not mean in a future conflict the J 10B and LCA Mk2 will never face each other.The J 10B will form the primary strike force of PAF and the LCA Mk2 will be used as interceptors.So actually there is the gratest chance of PAF J 10B facing the IAF LCA Mk2 in a future conflict.So comparing both is neither futile nor irrelevant.

Anything in PAF future inventory will face iaf's lca, mrca and so on. All future platforms will be multirole ever ready for mission may it be A2A or A2G.

i would love to see a combo of mica and meteor on the lca. Combine that with the aesa radar of mk2 and lca will be extremely deadly.
@omega - checked numerous sources and range of astra is always stated as 80km even in drdo presentation of astra at aero india.
I personally have very little faith in astra - its a decade too late.

Astra according to DRDO scientists is more capable than the AIM-120 AMRAAM-A stop castigating Astra dude it has been tested successfully several times twice this year once when it succeeds air to air trials on the SU-30MKI it will be ready for use on all our fighter jets it should be ready by or before 2014 and if that doesn't satisfy you the MK2 which will have ~150km range and better ECCM would also be ready for use before the end of this decade for sure

aim 120-a is an obsolete missile. USA has moved onto 120-D, even pak has started getting 120-C-5.
