China-Russia-Saudi Arabia: Globe's Next Superpower

Yes, censorship is just playing defense. It is far better to play offense by spreading one's own narrative. The only two groups that do propaganda well are the Zionists and the Indians. Even the Chinese and Japanese, for all their technical savvy, are hopelessly amateurish in their propaganda. As for Muslims -- Arab, Iranian and others -- we are all pathetic at propaganda.

Sad but true.

One big advantage for them, is that English is the international language.

Even non-Western sources like CCTV, RT and Al-Jazeera all have an English language version.

@Mosamania

We love Saudi people, we have nothing against them in fact we're grateful to them for providing us with oil. BUT for us non-Muslims Saudi has no significance apart from the oil they're sitting on. If you take Mecca and Medina and oil away from Saudi Arabia what do you think Saudi will be like? You#re probably thinking I'm a*s burnt because India name is not mentioned but to be honest India is not ready to be superpower yet, we've got decades to go. :)

As a neutral person I'd agree with Iranians on this. Iran is way more powerful and socially forward than Saudi. They have the one of the most powerful armies in the world and MOST IMPORTANTLY they're self-reliant unlike Saudi. Their laws are STILL more liberal than Saudi's. In Saudi women can't drive, they can't go out alone without their male guardian, till very recently they can't even vote. I mean you guys banned Pokemon just because it had a star in it which resembled David's star so apparently CARTOON NETWORK was promoting 'Zionism.' I mean that's absurd you've gotta agree with me on that? And you have Pakistani soldiers to protect you, Indian doctors to cure you (you being doctor yourself should know this.), And other expats to clean your cities.

And most importantly Iran has guts stand against anyone whether be it USSR or America but you guys don't do anything without America's 'co-operation'. I'm not anti-Arab it's just that I'm very PRO-ARYANS. :P

BBC News | MIDDLE EAST | Saudi Arabia bans Pokemon

Well i have a lot of respect for Iran and for its people. But what strikes me is that their 'guts' as you say may sometimes bring them into trouble. Maybe you remember there was was an Iran-Iraq War. 1 million people died on both sides. Loosing so many, quite honestly, is quite scary. In my opinion, politics with guts is better. Although they are trying to make a nuclear bomb, they should have maybe tried working on that secretly like Pakistan.

Wow, you must really feel good about yourself now after proving a insignificant point:enjoy:

Why is that insignificant? King Abdullah made a point after coming to power that he will build up relations with the emerging powers of Russia China and India. This indicated a policy of not depending on just the US. I was correcting the point that his first foreign visit as a King including China and India. Two countries he had never visited before. China - a country where a Saudi King had never visited and India whose last visit was under King Saud in 1955. I think the first visit a Head of state of any country makes shows some sense of priority that he/she wants to give and correcting that is significant.

On the article itself, the author is completely lost and has no idea of how the US-Saudi relationship functions. His main contention is that Saudi money is still going into hands of terrorists so why are we selling them $30Billion worth of military equipment. The answer is because the US govt. is not as ill-informed as the author. The main point being that while individuals may be involved knowingly or unknowingly in terrorism finance, the SAG is actively been involved in cutting it down which has been appreciated by American officials themselves. Millions of dollars are given in charity every year and if say a JuD front organization acting like a charity group requests money in KSA, people tend to give it assuming that it will help the poor people in Pakistan and not siphoned of for terrorism.

At the same time, the US-Saudi relationship is still very strong and the billions of dollars of military equipment is part of the mollification where a security guarantee over Iran is being provided under the US umbrella. Neither China, Russia or even India can provide that security umbrella to GCC states and so US will continue to play that role for the near future.

And what the author doesn't realise that while the US will side with the Saudis and GCC countries against Iran, Russia and China will not. Neither will they support regime change in Syria which is what the Saudis want. So the possibility of an "Alliance" will not happen. Saudi military relationship with the EU (the Eurofighter program) and the US is orders of magnitude of what it is with the Chinese or Russians.

What we will see is the SAG maturing is diplomacy and instead of depending on just the US, it is reaching out to Russia, China and India and balancing its relationship with all these powers. Just like say India balances its relationship with Iran and Saudi Arabia for example. Or any other country does in its enlightened self interest.

The article is talking about conspiracy theories where Saudi money is turning twitter into a propaganda tool and how the "triad" will counter America. So the article itself is nothing but one of those bogey monsters raising stories of how Americans should be afraid of everyone, the Chinese, Saudis, Russians and what not.

Overall thought, King Abdullah has defenitely proved himself since 2005. He is definitely a much better than King Fahd under whom the religious clergy went bezerk and support to extremist and militant groups in Afghanistan e.t.c. was widespread. He has also been successful in forging new relations with China and India as well.

China would not be that hard because there was no resistance to Saudi Arabia from countries like Pakistan on this but his strong will to improve relations with India despite Pakistani reservations shows his enlightened vision and the success of this in the past 5-6 years shows that he was proved right.

Infact, this interview with the Saudi Ambassador to India can give a quick overview of the improvement in Saudi-Indian relations since the cold war era ended.

China's Wen presses Saudi Arabia for oil access
ReutersBy Chris Buckley | Reuters – 7 hours ago

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao pressed Saudi Arabia to open its huge oil and gas resources to expanded Chinese investment, media reports said Sunday against a backdrop of growing tension over Iran and worries over its crude exports to the Asian power.

The Saudi kingdom is China's biggest source of imported oil, and securing energy security was high on Wen's agenda in Riyadh, in part reflecting concerns about how nuclear tensions and sanctions could unsettle ties with Iran.

"China and Saudi Arabia are both in important stages of development, and there are broad prospects for enhancing cooperation," Wen Saturday told Prince Nayef, who is a senior member of the Saudi government, according to Xinhua.

"Both sides must strive together to expand trade and cooperation, upstream and downstream, in crude oil and natural gas," said Wen, referring to access to extracting oil and gas and then processing the them.

The Xinhua report made no mention of any discussion of Iran, whose oil exports to China face pressure from new U.S. sanctions. The U.S. sanctions threat is a particular worry for China, the biggest buyer of Iranian oil. Only Saudi Arabia and Angola sell it more crude.

"Beijing is concerned with the potential response to Iranian bellicose statements and with the spike in oil prices that would ensue from greater turmoil in Syria and Iran," Michal Meidan, an analyst in London with the Eurasia Group who studies Chinese energy investment and policy, said in an emailed research note.

Late Saturday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry denounced U.S. punishment of China's state-run Zhuhai Zhenrong Corp.

Thursday, the Obama administration invoked U.S. law to sanction Zhuhai Zhenrong Corp, which it said was Iran's largest supplier of refined petroleum products.

"Imposing sanctions on a Chinese company based on a domestic (U.S.) law is totally unreasonable, and does not conform to the spirit or content of U.N. Security Council resolutions about the Iran nuclear issue," the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said in a statement issued on the ministry's website (????????????????).

"China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and adamant opposition," said Liu.

The Obama administration said its sanctions against the Chinese company and two other firms are part of a broadening effort to target Iran's energy sector and press Tehran to curb in its nuclear ambitions, which Western governments say appear aimed at developing the means to make atomic weapons.

Iran says its nuclear activities are legitimate and entirely for peaceful ends.

China cut oil imports from Iran in January and February in a commercial dispute over contract terms, and has been looking for alternative supplies.

Yet China is unlikely to dramatically boost crude imports from Saudi Arabia, even with the Iranian worries, said Meidan, the analyst with the Eurasia Group.

"In the likely event that Iran will offer discounted oil, Chinese traders will buy more Iranian barrels and could consequently reduce their Saudi imports," she said.

"Wen will therefore need to convey both commercial and diplomatic realities to Saudi Arabia, China's number one source of crude imports, and ensure that bilateral ties remain on steady footing."

MORE TRADE TOO, PLEASE

Wen also said his government wants "strong and reputable" Chinese companies to invest in Saudi Arabia's ports, railways and infrastructure, the Chinese Xinhua news agency reported.

China and Saudi Arabia should keep deepening cooperation "in the face of changeable and complicated regional and international trends," he said, according to Xinhua.

Crown Prince Nayef is King Abdullah's half brother and became heir to the throne in October. The Xinhua report paraphrased the prince as saying that Saudi Arabia is willing to expand cooperation in energy and infrastructure.

China is already Saudi Arabia's biggest customer and the kingdom is keen to diversify its economic ties.

Saturday, the state-run Saudi oil giant Aramco and Chinese companies finalized an initial agreement signed last year to develop a 400,000 barrel per day (bpd) refinery in Yanbu, on the kingdom's Red Sea coast.

Aramco will hold a 62.5 percent stake in the joint venture formed to develop Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Co (YASREF), and Sinopec will own the rest.

In the first 11 months of 2011, top supplier Saudi Arabia shipped 45.5 million tonnes of crude to China, a rise of 12.9 percent over the same period in 2010, according to Chinese customs data. Angola and Iran were China's second and third biggest suppliers.

Wen is also scheduled to visit the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Hmm. I fail to see how if Saudi Arabia is really Anti-Chinese then how come we signed a nuclear and military technology transfer deals yesterday. Strange...but then so is the world of propaganda it goes too far it stops making sense.

I was wondering if I should spend time reading all 174 replies on this thread, to get an idea of the number posters here, who prescribed to this utter ridiculous notion that 3 named parties have a prayer in taking over the US as a superpower. It would give one an insight into the quality of posters residing here.

Never have I Said Saudi Arabia was Anti Chinese However I don't support giving up all of our economic Interest in Iran for deals with Saudi Arabia there is noting wrong with that. we prefer to stay out of conflicts in the Middle East and trade and have relations with everyone.

Anyway Strong Relations with Saudi Arabia is welcomed if Saudi Arabia wants to have closer relations with China Were all welcomed to it.

From what I personally know about this deal, the Refinery was initially supposed to be setup in Fujairah (UAE), as a joint venture between Sinopec and IPIC, but Sinopec got a better deal from the Saudis, and went to YANBU.
