Yes, there are countries who are hell bent on redrawing the borders of the ME and region, they want chaos in the world so their people can sleep in peace, Iran KSA should've gotten their share of nukes to ensure that no one can cross their threshold, and i think once both Iran and KSA got their hands of nukes they will have no choice but to make peace as any confrontation means both countries goes down. Not going to happen, there will be no nuclear bombs or testing from Iran. They have not been able to achieve this and don’t believe what west scare mongers tell us on there nuke program is stalled. west is happy to negotiate do these awful deals that comes with inspections and humiliating monitoring on there country inspections are done regular. I believe both of you are right to a some extent. The Iranian system has to change, but it will be a hybrid change as Iranians have seen the devastation brought about by the US "regime change" in Arab states and are too nationalistic to allow that. The mullahs are waning in power and a new technocratic generation is coming up. Just like post Mao China. The transition will be gradual and as economic conditions improve after the sanctions are gone, the pace of social and political change will accelerate. However, there is no chance of a violent regime change by foreign powers. Iranians historically tend to rally around the flag when threatened and have a historical dislike for US and UK in particular for meddling in the country.

Iran has to change but the government cannot be overthrown by neoliberal shitheads who will turn the country into a colony again. Instead the government needs to move towards a more technocratic and secular path if it wants to avoid getting overthrown. Iran desperately needs nukes to defend itself but there is the constant threat of being genocided by psychotic Israel if word gets out that it is close to possessing nuclear capability.
