China puts TRACKING CHIPS in school uniforms to watch pupils every move

.
Prison also serves some function of education, which is the main function of schools. It is not surprising for them to share some similarities, for example, the emphasis on discipline, such as you are not supposed to skip classes..

Therefore, nothing is wrong here for us to put some smart devices on those pupils just to improve the quality of education. It is just like we install traffic cameras to prevent traffic violations...

I remember as a child, I asked my grandfather what would happen if I touched the fire. He said who knows, while going to the other room. I burned my finger for a second trying to touch the flame, yelled out in pain and heard him laughing. I ran to him and asked him why he didn't try to stop me from touching the fire. He said, I won't always be around, but now you can stop yourself from touching the fire.

Those that get it, get it.

Most of you will think this doesn't relate to the thread, but then again most of you think putting chips inside your children's uniforms is normal.

Agree! The more you put kids in soap-boxes, stupider and weaker they get.

I think there's a spectrum to education. It goes from knowledge to practical knowledge. I remember in Pakistan I would have to memorize an entire page as an answer to answer a single damn question on an exam. Just because you are good at repeating something doesn't mean you understand it practically or know how to even apply it.

To explain further, I could memorize how to make noodles, but it doesn't mean I could instantly make them after reading about it. The knowledge is definitely important, but then so is the practice.

Agreed !
There is a saying. Thousand travel books are not as good as one real trip.

If you are putting such sensors as a public policy then yes, a determined and habitual perpetrator will know what to remove.

When bad guys kidnap your kid, if this were a policy, they will first remove the coat or shirt where-ever the sensor is embedded.

It feels more like 'educating' kids to accept state controls from a young age.

Actually, you're right.

Kids, especially those under the age of 10, are vulnerable. That's why many Chinese parents buy their kids a smartwatch with which they can track their children as well as talking with them. Putting that into perspective, uniform with tracking chip has a similar purpose which is to protect the children, definitely not some evil plan to control people since it's not gov's initiative. But It will be like Trump's wall if you try to track high school students.

Orwell should have been alive today.
I know this does look a little bit wired but it has nothing to do with the gov since it's not a gov's initiative. And Chinese parents are crazy. They will spend tens of thousands of money on their children.
Education and kids are the hottest emerging industry of China.

.
To your surprise may be but CHINESE laws stated clearly that Do not take care of your elderly parents is a crime in feeling and in money!
And this demand from CHINA is 100 % supported by chinese parents, they do not need to buy individual positioning device any more for their children. but could log in to certain APP to check where their children are ,more convient.

You think too much bro, remindering me of an US movie, but we are working hard to become more rich has little time to consider privacy issues which we do not even care that much.
I have no secrets that the gov can not know unless i am a terrorist.
What's the point of living life as a human if you are not even allowed to think freely?

Getting rich is this important? Let's say you will be given a Billion USD and all the luxuries like newest smartphone, gaming machines, best possible medical treatment when you get sick etc. And in return, you will have to live the rest of your life confined in a cage. Is this arrangement suitable for you? You need to think whether you want your kids to grow up as humans or to grow up as robots.

Actually, it is a good idea for under age Kids. And you will agree if you have kids yourself. That's because the tracking device is not only to watch over your kid, but also their safety. When bad guys kidnap your kid, the police can use the tracking device to save him / her immediately; and easily. And if your kid is lost some where, you can find him / her quickly, before his / her life is in danger.
How much is underage? 17? And how many kidnappers are in China? Kidnapping of children must be way too common in China to take this kind of measures. What % of parents had their children kidnapped in China?

Not every problem requires an extreme measures. Your kid can get hurt, falling from a pedal bike. So, what is the solution here? You don't buy him a bike at all or do you teach him how to ride it properly?
Btw, are you suggesting that we should do nothing to protect our child?
Teach them manners from within the family. Teach them how to stay out of danger or how to take care of himself when he is in trouble. Teach them discipline. Don't avoid your responsibility as a parent.
It feels more like 'educating' kids to accept state controls from a young age.
Bingo. That's the main point.

It's not a gov action. And we do have some insane child traffickers that kidnap kids in front of its mother. You should put yourself in the position of the parents and think why so many parents would buy the smartwatch for their kids.
