China pulls up chief negotiator Wang Qun

More pertinent question is, do you understand the realpolitik? or merely posting for the sake of it?
I do, but apparently Modi does not, or maybe he does. Maybe the deal he made with America is just too big of a price.

As Ygritte would say - 'You know nothing, Jon Snow'

And Modi is the guy who has been black listed, vilified and crucified the world over and he is now being toasted the world over by the leaders of the same nations which banned him, so slightly off when you say he does not know it.

Well, let us just wait and see how things work out now, shall we?

By clearly hinting any opposition to Indian NSG moves by China will have long term effects, the Indian government has for the first time indicated a reaction to China. It will, in all probabilities, come in terms of more diplomatic pressure as areas where India has been neutral and opposed any moves against Chinese interest, may now see an active Indian posturing on the issue.

So if you really understand the realpolitik, you know that it amounts to more loss of diplomatic currency for China as something it had long avoided, namely to be tagged with India, it has achieved by the singular stupid act now.

Had the Chinese made sure India became a member of NSG, with conditions of all safeguarding of nuclear material, it would have ensured greater control of Indian program and more responsibilities on India. Indian politicians are naive enough to believe in the utopian dream of nuclear disarmament, if the major powers decide to do away with their nuclear weapons, India wouldn't think a second over it!!!

The actual understanding of realpolitik for anyone in terms of India would have been to put more responsibility on India.

Have you seen any nation, in its history, which won a war and refused to settle an issue which has made it fight four wars over 60 years? Which continues to give special provision to a state and make sure it can never be integrated as a state in india and yet keep claiming it as its own?Can anyone be so daft?

Yes - China!! By refusing to see a chronic antithetical policy of a nation it wants to contain!!

You guys just beat India in being daft!

LOL. China has veto power. So get used to it. Offer China a great deal and they may consider your entry. At the meantime you can talk and dream all you want.

See, when after a carefully reasoned post I posted, you come back with your veto quip, shows your lack of understanding of issues in domain of diplomacy.

Your veto's import is as good as India's clear and present urgency in requirement for NSG membership - non-existent!!

Anyways thanks for your replies.

Cheers

As things stand, Beijing's stance flies in the face of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of which it is a signatory. China's big fear now is India could use the same ploy that Beijing used in Seoul at the NSG plenary and back The Hague Court's decision which is likely to go against China.

Highly-placed sources said that the global support for India's position at the NSG could well be leveraged by New Delhi to back the enforcement of 'The Hague Judgment' a scenario which could isolate China and could even trigger its exit from UNCLOS.

Informed sources said the focus now shifts from the NSG to the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague where a judgment is expected, which when enforced, could force China to give up land in favour of the Philippines.

China has launched a worldwide propaganda campaign enlisting academics, legal experts, diplomats and foreign governments stating that such legal proceedings are invalid. But this position of China's is contrary to the rules laid out by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of which China is a signatory. China claims that it has the support of 60 nations who believe that arbitration at The Hague is illegal.

Lovely!!! :)

Why our Indian friends are so mad and desperate?

We must have done something right. :enjoy:

China handled the whole issue of India's candidature very childishly. The only outcome is that the fissures between India and China became open and it further pushed India into US camp.

Heads should role and may be Wang Qun is the first one

Oh we expect that will happen with India, when you guy don't receive candy from China, you go cry on US shoulder, believe me we get use with that kind of childish Indian attitude...it's not the first time nor the last time.

I am not sure China can wield such influence as US. In US vs China WAR 95% of the nations will back US

and who will back India? remember this during 1970 US sent carrier to Indian ocean to give you a strong message, and now your so call strategic ally such Russia is closer to China. And don't always expect that India will always be lucky, we can one day laugh of your national misfortune when other foreign powers is trying to give you some trouble.
