Drawing a comparision with (China, Russia & Mongolia) a trilateral grouping, he said if such an arrangement was possible, then why can't India, Pakistan and China develop a common trilateral platform.

He also mentioned that Indian officials had expressed their willingness to have some kind of trilateral summit on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

No. As it says, we signed Shimla agreement so that no third power can force us to do anything. I guess it was the same with Pakistan until now. They need someone now to mediate between India and Pakistan and it's a no-go for India.

No India refuses mediation because we dont have proper support with local kashmiris unless something on ground changes in kashmir (positively for India) we will oppose any resolution to this conflict. shimla agreement is just a tool to keep Pakistanis in check thats why we do some dialogue with them its just for show there is no intention to resolve from our side till we achieve a decisive shift in balance of power to our end.

India rejected the mediation of UN, USA. I think China knows well India will reject this proposal. They put forward this proposal to thrill the pakistani generals.

Think of it as a geopolitical tool where two will gang against the third and subdue it to their wishes. Ofcourse, diplomatically. This is what America and India have been trying to do against Pakistan since 90s, where America always siding with India and projecting its interests.
