China plays down general's warning to India

Chinese generals say one thing and the Indian media says a different thing.

The general's comments could just as easily be described as "urging" or "advocating" rather than "warning", but the sensationalist Indian media has to hype everything up.

In the diplomatic world there is a thin difference between urging and warning.

Then why would Chinese side will make this following comment ?

"conveyed understanding that the statement is not reflective of Chinese official view"

NOT REFLECTIVE OF CHINESE OFFICIAL VIEW.

Last time we warned, India laughed thinking we were bluffing. What happened was we invaded India in April (50 years after the 1962 humiliation) and inflicted another humiliation when we got major concessions out of India and left on our own terms like a boss once we got what we demanded. This time they are not laughing when we warn.

Better to dampen the issue rather than get into a word-slinging match.

It's like when companies settle out of court without admitting fault. It avoids PR damage.

Unlike the Pakistanis, the Chinese are not the natural enemies of India. Prior to 1962, our civilizations have pecefully coexisted for 1000s of year. I often feel that India is playing America's game in trying to contain China and will ultimately suffer for it.

Ah...you were saying that Indian media sensationalized the issue but where is Indian media wrong, they just reported what that general said.

My post was on that comment of yours.

As far as China, of course they are doing so, but not because they don't want to get into word-slinging issue,

India HAS to obey American demands because Washington controls India.

My point was about the language used by the Indian media.

The general's comments could have been reported as "Chinese general urges caution" or "advocates caution to avoid misunderstandings".

Instead, they hyped it up as a do-or-dare warning.
