BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Pakistani armed forces will hold a joint anti-terrorism drill in Qingtongxia in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from July 1 to 11, China's Ministry of National Defense announced Thursday.

The drill, code-named "Friendship-2010," would be the third of its kind between the two countries, said ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng.

Each side was expected to send a special unit of more than 100 members to take part in the exercise, said Geng.

The exercise aimed to deepen the relationship between the two armies and promote pragmatic exchanges and cooperation while "enhancing their capabilities in fighting terrorism together and safeguarding regional peace and stability," Geng said.

China and Pakistan held their first-ever joint anti-terrorism exercise, "Friendship-2004," in Xinjiang's Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County bordering Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. About 200 border soldiers from both sides participated.

The second joint anti-terror military drill, "Friendship-2006," was carried out in the hills of northern Pakistan's Abbottabad. More than 400 soldiers from both armies took part.

Despite numerous counter-terror exercises being held by SCO members, none of them have come forward to pledge counter-terror forces deployed in the restive borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Chinese have no shortage of either manpower or equipment today and Pakistan being a strategic partner of theirs needs their help. Why does Beijing not pledge military support to the Pakistanis or for that matter militarily address the chaotic situation in Kyrgyzstan?

I am genuinely seeking answers from Chinese members here with no intentions to troll; therefore, kindly answer accordingly.

It would be a great opportunity to exchange mutual knowledge of this rather difficult warfare.

You could approach Pakistani government with a solution yourself. Although I have a feeling that United States won't like it.

We have full capability of fighting this war but all we need is Proper Equipment from Which US has been backing down for a long time.

Pakistani armed forces are capable enough to face any kind of situation and yes we do need some proper equipment to fight this war which we are getting but the process is bit slow( that is because of our political leaders laziness) but that does not mean that we need manpower from any other country to actually kill people there.
But the solution to this problem is not in killing people. we want these people to work we need some infrastructure there where china is helping us in Baluchistan.
I hope I have answered your question quite comprehensively.

After a thread where Frankenstein or someone else mentioned what was done to the funds that were meant for Soviets during the Afghan war, do you think that the Americans from their perspective would make the same mistake of handing you something critical?

Kakgeta mentioned in the other thread, a demand for armed drones to take out the Taliban. That's one technology that Americans take pride in. Even by their standards, it is the most advanced conventional equipment they have as a new revolutionary flying killing machine.

Apart from that, why doesn't your government consider alternate sources to buy weapons from? China is such a big strategic partner of yours and has no shortage of equipment on sale. Neither has Europe objected to your procurement requests. Then why the hesitation to get the weapons and wait for Americans only to buy from?

The war on terror has become a war for your country as much as it is Americans--in fact more because even if Americans withdraw and retire back to their homeland, the Taliban will still be roaming scott-free in your territory.

Chinese did not start WOT as such it is not their problem. They're helping us as much as they can and their help is deeply appreciated by Pakistanis because they don't put strings or try to meddle in our political affairs.Parashuram re: your funds issue whatever Pakistan did was in it's interest.I am not even sure where you got that from - The whole Soviet Jihad could not take place without Pakistan's help.Iran was anti America at that time there was soviet union on other side the only base that could be used against Afghan SSR was Pakistan.America literally got back the prestige it lost in Vietnam and eventually Soviet Union collapsed.Total aid to Pakistan during that time was around 6 billion. Not that big of a deal.Pakistan was the boss as such it was Pakistan's right to decide to give weapons to pro pakistan warlords only otherwise get the hell out of Pakistan and Pakistan is not asking for funds re helicopters. It just wants US to deliver them because Pakistan crews are trained on cobras..buying other gunships would take at least 2 years to train on them.

We always have confidence in Pakistan's millinery forces, and I hope we can learn from the experiences Pakistan got from recent operations. After all PLA has not been in any real war for more than 40 years.
