China backs Sri Lanka

Respect for SL’s development path

Support for SL’s domestic and foreign policies

China on Wednesday assured its support to Sri Lanka to safeguard its sovereignty as the country prepares to attend the forthcoming UN Human Rights Council meeting.

The assurance was given by top Chinese leader Wu Bangguo during his meeting with Prime Minister D M Jayaratne, on the sidelines of the 15th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) at Xiamen.

China will continue to support Sri Lanka’s efforts to safeguard its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as respect Sri Lanka’s path of development and its domestic and foreign policies, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted Wu as telling Prime Minister Jayaratne.

I have family links in Jaffna and even Colombo but most my family have now moved to Canada and UK now because of the civil war

There wasn't fighting happened in Jaffna since 1998, some of my relatives visited Jaffna few weeks ago too, if you can visit SL you will see how many tourists are there. There was a major hindu festival few weeks ago.

East province is more developed now, even the international sport events are there. There are major projects in North too, there are some areas still haven't de-mined but will be ready in next year.

The UNHRC resolution A/HRC/S-11/L.1/Rev.2 on 27 May 2009 ..
resolution was passed by 29 votes to 12 votes with 6 abstentions...

UN will always follow US...
no matter what china or pakistan thinks , US&EU has bigger lobby and they won't going to miss this oppertunity to put their feet in south asia .....

india is the only country which could talk to US/EU behalf of sri lanka , but indian govt is also answerable to their own people , indian govt seem to ready doing the favor to sri lanka with a very logical request to make some contitution ammendments which the lankan govt promissed many a time but do not impliment coz china told them not to do that and promise to asssures them of full support in UNHRC..

the govt of sri lanka seem to have decided to go against india-US-EU infavor of china..
only time will tell which was right ...

On Nutshell, Sri Lanka is the enemy of India and no more friends. War between India - SL (with support from our other enemy) is inevitable. We don't expect anything from SL. India-SL should break all relations and it's my strong personal opinion!!
