China to help Pakistan build six 300MW N-power stationsBEIJING: China will help Pakistan build six 300-megawatt nuclear power stations, says a report published in China Daily on Thursday.

This is a part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries to develop their energy resources. China now has 11 nuclear power stations with a total capacity of 8,700 megawatts.

According to a national plan provided in 2004, China will build another 40 nuclear power units by 2020 to meet its growing energy requirements.

Baosteel Group, China’s largest steelmaker, began work on a $750 million facility on Wednesday to produce special steel. Xie Wei, general manager of Baosteel’s special steel branch, said these high-intensity steel products are meant for the emerging needs of industries such as aerospace, nuclear power, and oil and gas prospecting.

Jia Liangqun, an analyst at industry portal Mysteel.com, described the project as “forward-looking.” “China is now going all out to manufacture large and more technology-intensive equipment, which requires abundant steel with special features,” Jia said.

This was expected from our most reliable ally, lets see how the world reacts on this now the Indo-US nuke deal is almost approved.

China has the capacity and know how to build 1.000MW NPP's.

When did the Chinese build and operationalise a 1000 MW Reactor?

Tianwan-1 is yet to go critical. And its built by Russians(AES-91) plus Siemens instrumentation stuff and FINNISH safety features.

They have a installed capacity of about 7000 MW total while India does about 3000 GW(about 2.8% of our total capacity, more or less the same with China).

The Chinese themselves are in need to technology and expertise from outside.

Yep, but the only advantage they have wrt India is they can buy reactors from the outside world with less restrictions while we cannot. With the current deal, India will be able to do that as well.

The Jiangsu based Tianwan-I & II, Russian designs indeed are 1.000MW.
I didn't claim that they are operational yet.
China seems to have purchased these with full ToT.

BEIJING: China plans to build the world's first 'artificial sun' experimental device which aims at generating infinite, clean nuclear fusion-based energy, the state media reported on Saturday.

Experiments with the advanced new device, a full superconducting experimental Tokamak fusion apparatus which will be built in March or April in Hefei, capital city of east China's Anhui province, will start in July or August.

If the experiments prove successful, China will become the first country in the world to build a full superconducting experimental Tokamak fusion device, nicknamed 'artificial sun', experts said.

The project, dubbed EAST (experimental advanced superconducting Tokamak), is being undertaken by the Hefei-based Institute of Plasma Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It will require a total investment of nearly 300 million yuan (USD 37 million), only one-fifteenth to one-twentieth the cost of similar devices being developed in the other parts of the world, Xinhua news agency reported.

'Pakistan will get civil nuclear technology at any cost'

Wednesday September 20

New York, Sep 20 (IANS) Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said that his country will obtain civil nuclear technology at any cost and developed nations should have no hesitation in transferring it to Islamabad as it is a recognised nuclear power.

Addressing mediapersons in New York, he said that there should be no discrimination against Islamabad at the Nuclear Supplier Group's (NSG) meeting in Vienna, Online news agency reported.

The command and control system of Pakistan's nuclear programme is well established, and there is no danger of its proliferation, Kasuri said.

'Pakistan has the infrastructure and resources for obtaining the technology and we will achieve it at any cost', the foreign minister said.

He said: 'we are capable of obtaining civilian nuclear technology as thousands of engineers, scientists and technicians were working on Pakistan's nuclear programme'.

How many reactor India has built by herself really and what was the capacity of largest reactor, built without Russian or Western help ?
