Pakistan reacts angrily to Indian army chief's statement

By Awais Saleem, Islamabad, Oct 16: Pakistan has reacted strongly to the statement of Indian army chief, General V.K. Singh that "Pakistan and China are major security threats for India".

In a statement issued Saturday, Pakistan's foreign office spokesman said the "allegations made by Indian army chief are baseless and distortion of facts".

"We outright reject these accusations," the spokesman added.

"The statements by Indian army's high command regarding possible atomic war in the region are highly irresponsible and detrimental to the peace and security in this part of the world," he said, while calling for "more maturity and restraint before making such statements".

General Singh had made these observations at a seminar Friday organised by the Army's think-tank Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) on emerging roles and tasks of the Indian Army.

Really, Pakistan should make up their minds. On one hand their Prime Minister says he is unable to guarantee more mumbai like attacks will not happen from Pakistan.

'No guarantee against repeat of Mumbai-like attacks'

On the other hand when our Army chief says the situation in Pakistan is a security threat for us, they get mad!

Instead of acting petulant, please make sure Jamaat Ud Dawah is not printing ads in newspapers for fundraising. Action first, cheap talk later. In short - Do more!

I find nothing wrong in the General V.K. Singh statement. This statement is as correct as General Kayani’s statement regarding Pakistani Army remaining India centric. Military often act/strategize on threat perception and it is it's duty to do so

He said that a lot of concerns prevail all around the world regarding their safety and security but the concerns lack substance.

General Singh said that Pakistan has made unusual arrangements for the security of these weapons after global concerns.
