"China always maintains the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, opposing interference in Venezuelan domestic affairs and calling for international society to create favorable conditions for the peaceful dialogue," Hua Chunying, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press briefing Thursday.

China supports efforts made by the Venezuelan government for national sovereignty, independence and stability, said Hua, adding that China calls on all parties concerned to stay rational and calm, and seek a political solution through peaceful dialogue according to the country's constitution.

The comments came after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Wednesday he was breaking diplomatic relations with the United States after the U.S. administration recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as the South American country's interim president.

In response to a question regarding U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks about the possible military intervention in Venezuela, Hua stressed the importance of avoiding violent confrontations in the country.

The U.S. and Venezuela, both being important countries of the western hemisphere, shared a close relationship in history, Hua said. China expects both countries to treat each other with equality and respect without interfering in either side's internal affairs.

She pointed out that other countries are also opposed to military interventions in Venezuela.

trump would simply us the Monroe Doctrine and Roosevelt Corollary to control Latin America. Those neo-populists sure hate the brown skinned, no Mexicans and Latin Americans immigrants, trump only wants blonde hair blue eyed Norwegians, but Mexicans are not wanted because they are all 'criminals' and worse 'Middle Easterners' like Iranian (so-called 'terrorists'). Such is the racist bigoted ''white' nationalist world they are trying to impose on free people.

Amerika the racist Imperialist. Gone is the 'hug a neighbor' globalist. Bombs with compassion, Bush. Or bombs with Nobel Peace Prize Obama. With trump's bombs, trump lets you know trump hates everything about you that s good and normal.

I don't agree with American Intervention anywhere but this is required.

China will likely keep low profile politically, but, will not give the US international legitimacy at the UNSC and will be active economically.

Whatever done from now on will be done based on US own domestic laws, illegitimate in terms of international law.

What China is more interested is the US losing legitimacy bit by bit and get embroiled in every real and imaginary near and far conflict.

I think Venezuela's challenge will be more economic than political. On that front, I expect China to be more active.

As long as Russia and China are together on this. US will think twice before invading.

Being recognized by the majority is part and parcel of being a President.
Maduro is so incompetent compared to his predecessor.

China on Thursday voiced support for Venezuela's efforts in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and stability as well as opposition to foreign interference in the South American country's internal affairs.

According to media reports, Juan Guaido, president of Venezuela's National Assembly, proclaimed himself "interim president" of the country on Wednesday, about which the United States, Brazil and some other countries have issued statements in recognition of his presidency.

However, the country's supreme court has ruled relevant actions by the legislative power "unconstitutional," and President Nicolas Maduro has declared cutting off diplomatic ties with the United States.

"We are following closely the current situation in Venezuela," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a press briefing, urging all parties to remain rational and calm and to seek a political resolution to the country's problem through peaceful dialogue within Venezuela's constitutional framework.

The Chinese side supports Venezuelan government's efforts in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and stability, Hua added.

"China has consistently pursued the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, and we oppose foreign interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela," Hua said, calling on the international community to jointly contribute to achieving the goal.
