China offers Pakistan setting up an Industrial park in Liaoning

BEIING: China has offered to set up a Pakistan-China Friendship Industrial Park in Donggang city located in China's north east Liaoning province.

Leading a trade delegation, Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control said this here Monday evening.

Senator Talha said that an MoU in this regard has been initialed, but would be concluded upon Donggang City delegation?s visit to Pakistan later this year.

He said a delegation of Donggang traders has also been invited to visit Pakistan for further holding talks on this project and for looking into the possibilities of investment in Pakistan.

Pakistan and China, he said, enjoy all weather and time test friendship, but this friendship must be further consolidated by increasing mutual trade and investment.

Earlier, the Vice-Mayor of Donggang, Zhang Tao said the visit of trade delegation was very productive.

He said that signing of the MoU for setting up Pak-China Friendship Industrial Park is a very important step towards our mutual cooperation.

Ambassador Masood Khan said that in the last four years the trade volume between Pakistan and China has increased to US$ 10.6 billion; and Pakistani exports to China have doubled to US$ 2.2 billion.

China is contributing in a big way to address Pakistan's energy crisis, Ambassador Khan said, adding that after hydro, civil nuclear and coal, Chinese entrepreneurs are now investing in wind and solar energy.

The investment inflows have also gone up. Time, he said, is ripe for deeper engagement between private enterprises of the two countries.

He thanked the Mayor of Donggang, Yang Nai Wen and Vice Mayor for hosting and arranging the visit of Pakistani traders.

A delegation from Punjab led by MPA, Muhammad Arshad and comprising high-level government officers including Secretary Agriculture Punjab, currently in China to explore the possibilities of cooperation in the energy and agriculture sectors, was also invited to the reception.

Expressing his views on this occasion, Muhammad Arshad said his delegation held useful meetings with relevant Chinese departments and hoped that this interaction would bear fruitful results for Pakistan.
