This railway and road network will help Nepal get out of indian influence. Everything you said can easily be replaced with Chinese alternatives. Chinese goods are cheaper and better in quality.

If the currency peg is removed, Nepali currency would fluctuate, now it is stable.
Nepalis in India would be thrown out.
Nepal would have BOP problems.
Remittance alone is accounted for Nepal's 35% GDP (Nowhere in the world).

I think Nepal is not Bhutan and they won't invite Indian army so Modi cannot do anything here. Rather it is being done for their benefit so they are actually happy with this development.

1. Indian Army chief is always made the honorary General of Nepal army too. Its a standing convention.

2. Similarly the Nepal army chief is made the honorary general of Indian army.

3. Nepali citizen have de factor right to join Indian Army , Navy or airforce. Many do, as its often their first choice. (Used to be UK gorka regiment earlier)

4. Nepali citizens have risen to the rank of Major/Lieutenant General or equivalent in the Indian Army.

5. Same is true for Bhutanese citizens. They are also eligible for NDA exam as well as UPSC exams.

6. This is the picture of the chinese Nepal train line. And if you notice closely, it will benefit India more than it will benefit china.

More so when there is a democratic dictator (Modi) who rules India.
Nepalis hate Modi more than what I do.

Nepalese don't have xenophobia, they can not afford this because they live on overseas remittance and tourism industry. I have visited Nepal 4 times.

Apologise for my ignorance but it is my understanding that a train link bw china and nepal will help nepals economy as it will become accesible to chinese tourist so isnt that a good thing for nepal? If it is why is india worried? If they worry so much and since they claim to be richest nation in the world why not built your own train link? Why are indian always butt hurt about everything!
