China Losing ‘South China Sea Battle’

In 1958, the People's Republic of China (PRC) issued a declaration defining its territorial waters within what is known as the nine-dotted line which encompassed the Spratly Islands. North Vietnam's prime minister, Phạm Văn Đồng, sent a diplomatic letter to China’s prime minister, Zhou Enlai, stating that "The Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam respects this decision. "The diplomatic note was written on September 14 and was publicized on Nhan Dan newspaper (Vietnam) on September 22, 1958.

Based on the above, the government in Hanoi today is the younger generation of the same government then in 1958, they need to honor that agreement. Then, there should be no territorial water dispute between Vietnam and China. It was settled in 1958; Vietnam agreed that they belong to China.

That's why Vietnam has been very quiet on the dispute with China concerning SCS because she already illegally occupied 40 islands, but at the same time she is egging Philippines on in fighting with China.

No, he just said he recognized territorial waters 12 nautical miles from the coast of China.
12 nautical miles from the coast of China cannot extend down to near the coast of Malaysia as the Chinese now "claim"

LOL I must say you are a master of twisted words. Try to read the article from your own newspaper, would you.

well i cant be sure.... but i would think if the vietnamese said that -

the chinese paid the then prime minister, Phạm Văn Đồng to agree to it, which renders those documents useless as they are based on corruption.

can you deny it?? yes, can you prove it wrong?? no

therefore your letter is a load of crap :D:D:D:D

My man, the formal note was written in Vietnamese language, and I can fully read it. Its content is just that as i said..

Why would anyone write such an obvious useless note for unless it has been tempered. But anyway it doesn't matter, I'm sure China has the original and will be presented to your government when the time has arrived for negotiation.

. . .
I think China is winning the battle because the Chinese navy is developing so fast, it will eventually surpass the United States. As long as the US is out of the picture, its minions in South East Asian won't be able to harass China anymore.

well actually it is quite likely, what matters is how it is worded... i can write something that sounds like it has one meaning, but it is worded in a way that it literally has another meaning.

so i guess back then, it was a way to keep china happy because of its own stupidity lol

We will be ready to explain to the Chinese government all the words in the "formal note". We are also willing to explain to them that their claims are too greedy and illegal, no one can accept....

If you keep claiming China is greedy and illegal with maps that nobody can understand, what's the sense we are talking here. Your government should be satisfied if she can hold on to the 40 islands she already occupied. If she's making noises like you guys here she might not even be able to hold those.

Chinese lies about nature of the letter. Islands belong to South Vietnam in the time. North Vietnam PM didn't have right to Islands of South Vietnamese.
Nothing to negotiation about it.
